Super Mario 64 recreated in Sonic Robo Blast 2

Never expected to see my Peach Castle map in a video from this channel, but glad to see the reactions of everybody here (and the fact that it was covered in a video as well); it is funny that I started making it as a vertex slope experiment on a whim by importing the original Peach Castle model on Zone Builder, screenshotting the result (I cannot use the imported model directly because it is a broken import...but it gives me the layout from above in a way I could redraw it, and left slope vertex objects that I could inspect to know the exact height of each triangle I would draw), then painstakingly recreating the actual stage by drawing every single triangle while using the slope vertex object values as well as figuring out everything I would have to make a FOF for. Those castle pieces on the front corners that are attached to the castle but have a triangle at the top and bottom of them? Those were all FOFs, and were really tough to get right...but the results for everything really paid off at the end. I ended up pushing it a bit further out of the door for the OLDC SRB2 Battle event I ended up releasing this for which is why there was a GFZROCK texture behind the castle, and why I didn't have time to invest on a fix regarding the map scale (I can see that Mario has a squeaky voice and gravity because I scaled down the player size through a map variable as it would have taken me a good while to figure out how to scale up the entire map itself instead)...but the color textures were an intentional choice because of 1. I always liked to do stuff like that; many of my SRB2Kart maps rely on the same color-shading technique over textures...sometimes because I don't get to think on how to use normal textures effectively, but I still wanted to make it look like this (good ol Super Mario FX) 2. I tried using SM64 textures but the way these came out after converting them to SRB2's palette made them look washed out and blocky (since the game doesn't have bilinear filtering applied by default...but it wasn't intended to be either), so I decided to compromise with the flat colors instead That said, thanks to everybody who commented on this video (and Sonic Beyond for showcasing this map)! It has been a good while since I made this but I'm stil very proud of the result I got out after days of grinding at the mere idea of recreating a map *triangle-by-triangle* (and also I didn't know there was a Mario 64 model for Mario, that's nice), and I actually was working on a Bob-Omb Battlefield port in that same way months ago but as a UDMF test instead (no idea if the current SRB2 version already has it implemented, but UDMF basically allowed me to make slope vertex triangles *WAY* faster than before, so I was having a bigger chance to focus on drawing and matching the vertex heights themselves rather than setting up every single vertex slope on each triangle). I can't promise if I will ever finish it, but I'll definitely be looking forward to everybody checking it out if I do :)

Oh God, seeing a one by one recreation of the map feels weird, it's absolutely perfect, it would have been cooler if there were custom textures, but this is still outstanding, i like the textures placement imitating classic polygonal n64 shading

It's very hard making planets, since spheres are kinda hard to make in srb2, and the gravity in srb2 is just normal or inverted, making a full 360º gravity would be very hard unless you use shaders for opengl
