ah. what a beautiful theme. I remember when I first beat Super Mario 64 DS Man watching the credits was so amazing, that's definitely one of the themes closest to my heart, I got a bit choked up as a kid when the credits ended with those sad chords with a small bit of silence followed by mario saying "thank you so mucha for to playing my game!" I think Super Mario 64 holds a good chunk of my most nostalgic themes, so many classic pieces, dire dire docks, bomb omb battlefield, hazy maze cave, and inside the castle walls to name a few! Other games that hold some very nostalgic themes for me are wii sports, super smash bros. brawl, art of balance, pokemon black & white, super mario galaxy 1 & 2, mario superstar baseball, new super mario bros. ds!!! so many to remember! It's an amazing thing, I would do anything to go back and spend eternity as a kid again!

I recently learnt that the three final chords of this track (IV major - IV minor - I) constitute a type of plagal cadence and this is what creates this very powerful sad/happy/nostalgic effect! Yes, I totally feel the same as you with all these Mario soundtracks. They usually have this light-hearted and joyful vibe which always feels nice. I think that what we are doing with our respective KZbin channels, when we make/arrange video game music, is exactly a way of reliving our childhood. And it is really awesome to interact with people like you who share the same passion!

I love the personal stories you put in the description. I have a very similar story with this game. I've beaten it probably ten times over the years, but I still have the original save file that my dad started when I was 3. I was 12 when I sat down and finished the file we started together. I think we had 76 stars when I finally decided to get the rest. No surprise -- my 120th star was collecting 8 red coins in the final bowser stage, and the last red coin I got was the one at the end of the level hiding under the staircase. It's been 15 years since then and I still hold onto that memory

It's funny that one of the most nostalgic games for me I got by chance. I was spending the night at my friend's house and I wanted to play his pokemon game so I took my copy of new super mario bros out and put it on the floor next to me, time goes by as im playing and I hear his dog messing with something, I don't think anything of it and I go to bed. I find out in the morning he had totally mutilated my copy of nsmbds lol, so my friends mom took us to the store, I don't remember exactly I think it might have been a toy'r'us. We got to the DS games and she asked me which game I had, I scanned for new super mario bros ds, found it! but didn't say anything because next to it I saw super mario 64 ds, something about it drew me towards the game, so I did not hesitate to pick it! I spent so much time playing that game it's unbelievable, I 100 percented 2 files and still have my original copy to this day! I remember playing the modes on DS download, those were so much fun

Very well done! Mario 64 is a top one for me too! I think Super Mario World on the SNES is my most nostalgic though. Pretty much the whole soundtrack! That was the first console my family owned and that game was included :)

@@SorandaGuitar Mario 64 is a great game, but people usually go for Dire Dire Docks, the Main Theme, Inside the Castle, Chill Mountain. I've never heard someone cover this one, but you rocked it.

This is amazing man!!! Such a good tune, brings me back. I also watch some speedrunners of the game pretty frequently so whenever this song comes on it's usually a good time (since it means a run was actually finished) My most nostalgic game music? It might be Littleroot Town from Sapphire. But it also might just be *insert literally any zelda OOT song*. The athletic theme of SMW also gets me... Such a hard choice.

Thank you so much Jonny for your comment! Yes, what speedrunners are able to do with SM64 is really mindblowing... they even do challenges like "no A button" which is incredible. Oh yes Littleroot Town, as in you last video, I get it! Usually the first games we play are the ones which have the greatest impact on us. I totally agree with you for Zelda OoT: it is my favorite game (and soundtrack) ever. So hard to chose just one music from this game. And yes, Rainbow Road is definitely very nostalgia inducing. I might prefer the one from Mario Kart 64 because it was my very first video game ever, even though I absolutely love Double Dash too!

This is great! I think that a lot of the tracks off of the Heroes III OST bring the most nostalgia for me. Spent a lot of time playing that throughout the years and the orchestration is fantastic. Most are too much to put on guitar I think though, although I will try :)
