It basically IS a jazz arrangement. Most of the themes from the early games are based on samba, smooth jazz, and hot dixie jazz.

@@3-PHASEDELTA Exactly. The 8-bit style of music was easy to produce tunes with at the time, and it was already common to hear in other arcade games. But that doesn't change the fact that Koji Kondo pulled off an amazing jazz piece.

Brilliant, reminds me of a trip a few years ago to Prague when went to a restaurant, sat in the front area, after we ordered the meal 3 guys came in from the street a d casually one picked up the double bass, one sat at the drums and the other took his violin out of the case and played the most lovely set of music, highlight of the holiday.
