closest we got to this was mtv era of ad's for mario in america. lacked japanese cover artstyle but really was the vibe in early 90s. wacked out sugar cereal, mtv spring break, and dr mario 1988 cereal commercials blending into butthole surfers and some ad about super mario allstars for free if you send in enough of the box tops from the cereal.

Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of the greatest video games the NES has to offer. I put it high on my list of favorite video games because it establishes so many norms for the Mario franchise, including world maps, etc. Shigeru Miyamoto's masterpiece! :)
