Super Mario Bros 3 NES Full Playthrough

My favorite game in the Mario series. The level design, controls, physics, and gameplay have never been better. I much prefer these fairly designed levels with limited lives over the unfairly designed levels with basically infinite lives of Super Mario World. It's quality versus quantity. Super Mario World is the cheap snack food while Super Mario Bros 3 is the high class meal.

Just a suggestion: In the world 2 pyramid, when you're in that secret room, go to the top and in the middle above you is a hidden 1-up. Don't break all the blocks. Be able to stand on the top row of blocks, and you hit it off screen, but the mushroom will come down.

In 6-4, when you first get on the rail lift, as soon as you go over the ice block, hit up, and there is a hidden note block to take you up to coin heaven.

On 4-6 when you had the Tanooki suit, why didn't you just make yourself a statue to kill the Koopa rather than losing the Tanooki suit to the Koopa?

The statue transformation mechanic is one that I consider to be very situational and would require earlier planning in order to fully make use of the ability. The Koopa falling on top of me happened unexpectedly, and the only thing I could think to do in the moment was to duck.

Fun fact: The game starts with a curtain opening because Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that the game was just a stage play.

I must confess that this was played on an emulator. I do own a physical cartridge of this game and an original NES, but it's had the blinking light problem for the longest time. Emulation has been the more convenient solution over getting it fixed.

@@hotuorbit Oh. You must be unlucky because I have had my cartridge since 1990 and every Nintendo game works from then. But this did look like the original NES cartridge. Have you tried using a Q-Tip in the pin connector?

@@esansmegalovaniaplaysroblo3978 That was my video capture device glitching out. It happens unpredictably and randomly, so there's nothing I can do about it. It's an older model Elgato. It also can only record at 30 frames per second, which also causes the problems with video capture because NES games run at 60 frames. You may notice that in some places, sprites that are supposed to be flickering either appear solid or invisible because the recording is only catching every other frame.
