Not the first game I ever played but definitely one of the first. It's still crazy to me that because of this, for the longest time I had no idea that the Mario platformers were normally only on Nintendo systems. I had Super Mario Bros Deluxe and Super Mario Advance on GameBoys and didn't think much of it. Legit thought Mario was a PC platformer like Earthworm Jim or Rayman.

This was my first Mario game. I was born in 2001, but one of our school rooms had Win 98 computers until 2012 and this was one of the three games installed, along with Doom and the Prince of Persia, as well as the game that brought me to Mario in 2010.

I had a snes in 2003 or so, but knew this game from school when I was 8-9 years old. I live in Germany. I guess, this game was world wide everywhere, its funny how popular that actually is. We played it during biology lessons in the computer room, when the teacher said, we can do what we want in free time after some time of lesson until school would end.

Yeah last one was the loop level. When I was a kid I tried to find out secret exit because I thougth it would continue it was weird it would end something that dark level as it was but nope..As older I regain the game somehoe and I figured out to read message from coins "the end" 😅

I think Pentium was from 1995 or around. About the game sound, the fact is that this clone was likely some fan made remake, so, they may have just left the music out on purpose.
