Like, who doesn't? There are some titles that are hated, but these are few. The general opinions about these games have skyrocketed through the years and will continue to do so. Another way to understand this is by checking the sales of these games. Mario Kart 8DX, 60 million copies, Super Mario Bros, 40 million copies, Mario Odyssey, 30 million copies. And I could go on. These games have everything a video game franchise needs to be popular, and unsurprisingly they are. Edit: I realized my comment is very 🤓

Until now, I didn't know that there was a Game & Watch game called Super Mario Bros. The only music jingles you can hear AR the first several notes of the Overworld music and the End of Stage music (I think the latter is sped up, but I'm not sure).
