That's because the actor in the show is giving his own spin on the character. Chris Pratt's "Wahoos" are certainly there to remind the viewer of Charles Martinez' version, so it comes off as a poor impression.

I thought they might be trying to sound somewhere in between the Lou Albano voice (super show) and the Charles Martinet voice (N64 moving forward), because he's not as high pitched as Martinet but he's not as low pitched as Albano. It's nice and low but he still does the "woo hoo". Personally, I hate all the complainers. They're all ppl who are ten years younger than me I bet, and only remember the Martinet voice, but the Martinet voice sounds too little kiddish. Mario should sound like an Italian plumber from Brooklyn! 🙂 If my theory about the voice being in between the two is correct, then the complainers are even more offensive for not embracing the compromise. Super Show was first!!!

@@matthewcaddis4746 He only appears in last five minutes of the movie, so it wouldn't be so hard to just edit him out. The most obvious decision would be cut the final scene and replace it with live-action segment actors, who will conclude the story by telling how they've got back in Brooklyn. Like, the entire movie was just them reminiscing their adventures. And the reason for Mario to drop Peach is that he left a pasta pot on a stove or whatever

The first super Mario movie was terrible it was so bad that this is the first time that they've done a Mario movie Sense and that they change the voices of Mario and Luigi from them haveing a Brooklyn sounding accent all the games to have more of Italian voice an Italian top and that's accent the background of them coming from Brooklyn. Like for example look at Yoshi Allen the original Yoshi Island as them reckoning where Mario and Luigi are from.

Plus the story really didn't make any sense. If you watch the story and try to tell somebody what it was about you would have a hard time putting it into words other than just a bunch of saints with two people that was supposed to be playing Mario and Luigi but it did not feel like a Mario movie at all it felt more like a Saturday night sitcom of people pretending to be Mario and Luigi and the same with the other characters it was that off from the video games it just did not reflect anything in the Mario video games up to that point.

I’ll try my best to explain it The original super mario bros super show was released in 1989, at that point in time we only had Super Mario Bros on the NES. If you look at gameplay of Mario taking on Bowsers castle in the original game, you will see that bowser has a green skin color, not yellow like the bowser from our current generation. As a matter of fact, He wasn’t even referred to as “Boswer” back then! His name was “king Koopa”! The Super Mario Bros Super Show was a direct reference to the NES video game, they designed the characters exactly how they were seen on the NES game!
