Quick little video demo of Super Mario Mushroom World Pinball by Gottleib. This is a Gottleib System 3 pin that was not working when I got it. I replaced the driver board and a burnt up coil. It works great and is a lot of fun with awesome audio.

Charles Martinet got his start as the voice of Mario in both this and the first Super Mario Bros. pinball game that came out two months before Mushroom World did. Martinet has stepped down from this role after 31 years.

That music is actually kind of a bop... Mario's voice actually sounds slightly different... which is very normal, given this was Martinet's first take on the plumber!

This pinball was probably made in the early days of the Brothers' voices because they still have those New York-style Italian accents. Nowadays, their voices are a bit more cheerful, thanks to Mr. Martinet. ^^

Man, that really took me back. I used to love this game at the local arcade. What a nostalgia rush. Thanks so much for this great video; and seeing you learn to work the table and play it like a casual fan was a much bigger nostalgia rush than seeing you kick its butt would have been ha ha. I think there was more than one video mode too.

I think the alarm thing up there is supposed to be the anti-cheat field. You know, when you bump the machine too much, the machine detects that you've been cheating and it jacks all the targets and shuts down the flippers until you lose a ball, then the game progresses normally on the next ball.

I think this is a perfect example of someone wanting to get rid of something so rare and worth potentially a lot just because they can’t be bothered to fix it. Though I understand with a pinball machine they can take up a lot of space. But surprised he didn’t just look inside to find what was smelling bad lol Would have loved to own this beautiful machine I’m sure you’ve figured this out in 12 years if you still own the table but if you hold your flipper up opposite the pipe your ball will pop out its supposed to land on it perfectly every time. What seems like a very difficult mechanic makes for an easy ball control mechanic It’s really that left yellow mission ramp that is the hardest shot to make with the right flipper. Gotta make the shot with the very tip of the flipper to get it up there. Really love the music in this game too, some tracks sound similar to sonic the hedgehog songs to me from the Genesis days

Indeed. I distinctly heard the underground music from Super Mario World and the whistle tune from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Funny thing about that one is that the whistle tune in Super Mario Bros. 3 was actually based on the tune from the original Legend of Zelda, while the tune in A Link to the Past is quite different.

I got one of these recently. Heck of a lot of fun to play in my opinion! Needing to fix the bottom pop bumper as it keeps shorting but I'm going to take another crack at it today to get it working. The way to beat that video mode is that you just wait until the last second to jump the obstacles. Typically in a Mario game you can jump ahead of the obstacle a bit and still clear it... This one the hitboxes lean more toward getting really close to the obstacle and jumping right in front of it to clear it. So you can get right up face to face with the ghost and then jump and it clears. I clear the video mode about 90% of the time now. :) My driver board is a bit messed up also... hopefully I don't have to replace it. Seems like quite the expense just to avoid a bit of wire jumping. It's about $122 after shipping. I think that will be a last resort for me. Wish I could find the NOS stickers and plastics for these like you could 7 years ago! LOL. I don't necessarily *need* them but they'd be nice to have as spares.

This is just soo creepy.. I dreamt about a small shop downstairs in some house I'd bought unseen, and it had a half dozen unusual pinball machines.. a baseball one, an australian one, and *this* one. they were all unusual.. the baseball one for instance wasn't a baseball "themed" one, but actual bats for flippers, i strange places. lots of green on the table. The Australian one had a very unusual bacvkbox.. only about 10 inches high, maybe..Thing is I'd never seen *any* of these before my dream

So far... only 2 pinball games have robbed me in my life One- I can't remember what it was, but the ball got totally stuck in the obstacles, and the game just shut down on me like a tilt (What a rip) Two- A Spiderman Pinball game, I started it without realizing the left flipper wouldn't work... luckily I told the front desk and they gave me my credits back. Still... I love pinball!

His reason for excitement is he got the game for 275.00 at a garage sale, it is very rare. Ghost shot will remain un-obtainable until the mechanical p/m issues are addressed instead of cosmetics like the apron.

I've played this so many times when I was a little kid. The campground I used to go to had a little arcade and for years they had this table. Unfortunately, they ended up replacing it with a different one. I haven't seen this table anywhere in years. I'd dump a shit ton of money into one if I ever encountered another one.

John, why don't you like LEDs installed in pinball machines? I know that LEDs installed in the backbox of pinball machines saves paint from chipping off of backglasses. Plus, I think that if you color coordinate LEDs on the backglass and play-field, less fade occurs, compared to if you just used a white LED or a regular incandescent bulb.
@DoItAfterSmoking

I would say that Its about the feel of if.. Its worth the maintenance to get the smooth flow of a bulb rather than the strobe affect of an LED. So to say it feels more analog than digital.
