Bro Mark really outdid himself in this episode, ESPECIALLY the Metallix vs Yoshi fight. As much as it took 5 years this was definitely worth the wait, and I've been taking a lot of notes from this animation too, and hopefully techniques like this I will use for my next animations as well! Actually it didn't take 5 years animating time. Mark just took too long break or Nintendo forced him to do take break and shutted his twitter and patreon down. He just continiued Episode 2 in the beginning of 2020 and the same about Episode 1, he started it in 2015 and it was already out in 2016. And that means he needs just 1 or 2 years for one Episode. If Nintendo doesn't do shit again and just let him animate he could be done in about 5/6 years for the whole series at least till the Basilix fight. So we can hope that Episode 3 will be out in mid of 2022

Also I wouldn't say it was all Nintendo behind the delay, Mark had depression issues at that time too, and tbf he did splattered "Super Mario Bros" all of the Patreon, so of course it would've caught Nintendo's eye

@@FrostNapCat Yeah a lot of it was wasted time really. Mark even admitted as much. It would usually take 6 months to a year, but i'm personally just waiting for the day that he cancels it again. The whole thing will take a really long time to complete considering the pace he's been working at. Even one episode a year is unrealistic, as that would mean he needs 15 years, give or take, to complete it. Frankly, i'm not convinced he's going to spend that many years of his life on it.

They way Metallix almost kills Yoshi was way too brutal..........reminds me of something that happened in real life, and not with a happy ending. BTW, I liked how his dialogue looks more "polished, elegant". Is like you have the insane power of a Terminator combined with the deadly charisma of something like Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars. At least that is how I felt it.

I love the fight between yoshi and metallix. The use of the Killer Instinct soundtrack (Type 03 is the name if you guys are interested) is amazing and perfectly recreates the carnage that comes

Everyone always praises SMBZ for the production values and the fight scenes, but I think one aspect of the series that's really underdiscussed is how masterfully it handles tone and pacing. Everything is dark and tense and serious, building, building, building, then there's a bit of comedy and zany antics to give the viewer a breather, then the tension starts building, then more comedy and harmless fun and you drop your guard, then BAM, a fight scene that puts genuine fear for the characters into you. This series wouldn't have been half as popular as it is without its expert ability to control your emotions from scene to scene.

What makes his beatdown of Yoshi so much worse is when you consider; this is probably exactly what people like Knuckles, Amy, Omega, etc went through when they tried to fight for their lives. Probably making decent headway until Metallix lost his patience and stopped toying around, and proceeded to brutalize them such that they didn't just die painfully; they died *alone,* and *afraid.*
