Plenty of people speedrun games that are procedurally generated. Terraria, Minecraft, Rogue Legacy and the like. I can't see why this would be any different. What makes a run like this interesting is you get to see the runners improvise on their feet with whatever they're given. I'm not saying it's better than someone dashing through a game they know like the back of their hand, but its a pretty fun alternative.

I don't know the examples you named, but my main point is that it's impossible to compare different 100 mario speedruns, because they all play in completely different levels.

This run was crazy. I've never seen any play mechanics on the poor Luigi level. Everything seemed re-skinned and nutty. The screams from Mario on level 13 were new to me as well. Wild stuff.
