Super Mario Party - Official Game Trailer - Nintendo E3 2018

The Mario Party™ series is coming to the Nintendo Switch™ system with super-charged fun for everyone! The original board game style has been kicked up a notch with deeper strategic elements, like specific Dice Blocks for each character. The game also introduces all-new ways to play, including Joy-Con™ controller enabled minigames, and new modes to enjoy with family and friends. Board game play goes back to the four-player basics as you take turns and race across the board searching for Stars. You can also pair up two Nintendo Switch systems and delight in this dynamic play style, such as in the new Toad’s Rec Room mode. With new modes and new minigames coupled with original board game play, the party starts anywhere, anytime, and with all kinds of players. Super Mario Party is available October 5th!

As much as I like the changes in Mario Party 9 and 10, I'm sure everyone can agree that this is a step back in the right direction, taking elements from 2016's Star Rush, expanding on the Joy Con Minigame concept from 1-2 Switch, and of course, the ability to connect to multiple Switch console for an enhance version of the Tabletop Minigames from Wii Party U. As a big Mario Party fan, this game looks promising! It seems like the premise is Mario and friends (Donkey Kong, Boo, Wario, Peach, etc.) vs. Bowser enemies (Dry Bones, Goomba, Shy Guy, etc.). I also saw PomPom from Super Mario 3D Land as a playable character! The character roster will be very interesting! Also, PLEASE, we NEED online! Mario Party has been waiting for Online for so many years!

I'm not sure if you remember, but Fortune Street (another board based game) was released for the Nintendo Wii, and it had full board capabilities on Wi-Fi. People did quit from the game, but what Mario Party could do, is just make games with anyone short, quick games. Like 10 turns. And then with friends, they could make board gameplay as long as you want, because a friend isn't going to quit (at least not a reasonable friend). :P

In the last two Mario Parties, All the players had to travel together in a car, meaning that when one person moved, everyone moved. Personally, I wouldn't mind if the car came back as an extra game mode, but it should never have replaced the standard game play.

Am I missing someone? Toadette was giving the star so I don't think she is playable. And I didn't see Toad so Toad's probably like Toadette. Wonder if Magikoopa and Blooper are playable since Hammer Bros and Shy Guy are back. Wonder if Boom Boom is playable too since Pom Pom is there. I don't see Birdo anywhere, but if Dry Bones is there she has to be. Spike was in the crowd of a minigame with other character that seems to be unplayable. The game comes out in October. There can be another trailer in which they introduce online play between now and release.

After so many generations of Mario party it’s almost guaranteed to have a lot of similar mini games but so far it looks like Nintendo is bringing a lot of new to the table and taking full advantage of possibilities with the switch. I just hope the boards and board mechanics are good, at least better than the previous few.
