Super Mario RPG - Fastest Way To Grind Experience

Hello There,
I put together a quick guide on one of, if not the fastest and most efficient way to grind experience. From testing this also appears to be much faster than the previous mallow trick used in the SNES version on the ship with the infinitely respawning Bones and thunderbolt. Not only that you have a chance to get a fire bomb drop, which can be helpful for other bosses coming up. I tried to keep the explanation simple, sweet and allow you to see it first hand, as well as keeping it brief. I hope you enjoy!

you don't even need the flower ring if you just use mallow to wipe them. thunderbolt is stronger on the boss and only costs 2 fp, just give mallow the feather to outspeed and it's much more fp efficient

I actually want to test this on one of the free speedrun files. I will be 100% honest, I did not test mallow as much in remake, compared to geno and Mario. But thinking of the chain boost with work paints, and feather alone may work. Mallow is one of those who gets thrown aside in most playthroughs and rom hacks, and I feel like after watching and completing a speedrun of remake, I've lost quite a bit of it, I had myself. I'll test it tonight!

Giving Mallow the troopa pin and work pants with a balanced build does easily one shot at level 24! I don't have a file to test lower but this is actually more efficient on FP and the animation is a bit faster! For the proper turn order without super suit but scarf Mario - lucky hammer, any armor/work pants, attack scarf Mallow - any, work pants, troopa medal (gives the 1.5 boost) with no scarf/super suit Mario - lucky hammer, any, troopa medal Mallow - any, work pants, zoom shoes That will make the turn order mario, mallow than whoever, as long as you don't raise the third person speed! I tested out on my completion file and it killed at 24. Good job with that! :) The damage output even without the boost, should still be enough at a lower level. I really need to look into Mallow more in this remake. He's very useful. Thank you for bringing this to light as well! As I stated in the reply, I usually like so many more bench Mallow, and Armageddon only implanted that more in my head! I made this quick tutorial for fun and can't believe it blew up like it did, but excited to see improvement can be made even when it was already quick! Awesome job :)

@@Zeion97 that's cool to hear i was able to bring some light on mallow, i recently finished my first playthrough of the remake and i actually found myself using mallow quite a lot! definitely an under appreciated party member for most people it seems lol

Haha, thanks for the laugh 😂 I needed that. I left in some of it as I said to show it in action. Can't please everyone. 3 minute explanation should be enough, but others want to see it in action longer. Some want it shorter. The lovely walk of life is, you'll never please everyone, just do your best and smile.

I just had lucky hammer on indefinitely throughout the game especially since how easy this version is and then just picked up the exp booster when I had the coins. I just reached sword world and half my team is already at max with two on 28 so far. So longer battles in the end as you’re doing yoshi minigames more often but only stick to high exp ones and I don’t mind the longer journey, it’s not that long a game anyway :) Edit: Mallow can 1 shot them all with thunderbolt at 1 fp since they all have thunder weakness and it’s faster then Geno’s attack so quicker exp.

I just finished this game + post game and all my characters were max level so early 😂 I guess it has something to do with the fact that I didn't skip a single enemy LOL, but I thought that was intended

I just ended up grinding on that arrow guy. But it was definitely started off in the area because of the way the conveyer belts keep dropping off dudes straight onto my face.

However of the clones/machine made enemies Yaridovich IE Speardovich gives out the HIGHEST base EXP in game that isn't from a boss.

That is correct, and I covered that :) Sprardovich gives out more, but takes longer to kill and his special form takes even longer. Mack is the most effective time versus overall experience!

Does switching to Breezy mode for the grind increase your EXP rewards?

Why do you want to use the lucky hammer?

lucky hammer always gives you the mini-game to double coins or experience. It's faster to use it, with geno for the two attack kill on all enemies to double the experience, versus the item, which animation takes slightly longer. It also ensure you get the kill with a lower level geno because Mack takes some damage

Good luck with it! It does work, even if you don't have the super suit, with Geno you'll be able to KO all of the enemies, unless you get a special. If you're a bit lower on damage due to level, you can use flash versus blast. But as you grow higher blast will always KO
