So the "Ocarina" in this song had a bit of a shelf eq added to emphasize the high frequencies. The originals were a bit soft too, but I felt like it would mix better with it added.

Its nuts how many times this version of the SMB 1 Overworld theme got remixed. Super Mario RPG Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga ^ but on 3DS And soon the remake of SM RPG. Oh, you could add this restoration too, lol.
