Two tips: it's not just glitches that will determine speeds, different colored bloopers are different speeds as well. Also the course has invisible checkpoints that have to be passed in order for the race to be counted. It IS possible to hit these invisible checkpoints on foot since they bleed into the off-course parts of the map but require specific movements to do right (see any Sunshine Speedrun)

Shines in hub that I remember... 1. Spray the sand near the light house to find a hidden pattern. Uncover it, and you get a shine. EASY. 2. On to of the roof near the boating dock is a dude that’ll throw you for 1 coin. Stand kinda towards the middle of the roof before chatting. If aimed right, and with a little rng luck with the chaos, you should be able to break through a building window where a shine is hidden. Also easy assuming he doesn’t get moved by the magnet glitch. 3. The box breaker mini game gives you a few, but it’d probably be hard to do with the glitches. 4. Cleaning the bells and shine tower. You need the rocket to claim the shines, but that might not be necessary with the jumpy glitch.

It would be great if it weren't for the game's structure. At the end of the day, you need to clear Level 7 (the Shadow Mario Chase) in every level. Unless you want to unlock the other levels earlier, the other shines don't matter.

Plus, it would be nice to have more levels unlocked soon considering they keep getting stuck on some, and would probably like to see more before giving up. -And they did ask for hub world shines, so that’s really why this is here-

Another one worth noting is the warp pipe shine behind the lighthouse. You can get it by just jumping from the top if you aim it well enough (and you have fludd to help)

i actually didnt know how i was supposed to get the "clean the shine" shine so....i just sorta got up there without a rocket and when the shine spawned way above me i was super confused and thought i glitched it out or something, (i did this with the normal game not chaos)

My favorite glitch in this is the random sounds, whenever the giant blooper sound or paint paranha sound come from out of knowhere its really creepy and hilarious :')

There’s a speed run of this shine sprite that’s completed in 17.28 seconds without a blooper. With certain glitches it should be possible. Also there’s a KZbin named Scykoh who has a couple of glitch videos for Mario Sunshine that might be of some help. Also, the shine sprite behind the gate is normally accessed by charging into it with the turbo nozzle. Some shines to get in the hub world are: 1. Talking to an orange pianta with a mustache sitting on a roof. For one coin, he’ll toss you through into a building for a shine. 2. Closeby the pianta on the roof is an entrance leading to the box breaking mini game. You can get two or three here, but it might be difficult based on the RNG. 3. Go to the pillars in the water beside the entrance to Gelato beach and there is a pipe on one of the pillars. This is definitely one of the easier hub level, but you might die a couple of times due to RNG. 4. There is a hidden shine sprite graffiti on the beach close to the entrance to gelato beach. I hope this helps out!

When you got attacked by the yellow honey come looking thing at 0:26,that was the thing stoping you from getting in the pipe. Same thing goes with the other one at around 0:13. That was also a wall stoping you from going in to another level. so ether go to the pipe while its happening or look for another level.

When you look like you are in a shell it is probably the effect of the turbo nuzzle, which is how you enter the gate with the shine next to the spawn point in the hub, there are also more gates with other levels, you should try it when you are on a "shell"

The blooper speed is based on which one you ride. They're different. I don't know how neither of them knows this, I figured that out when I was like 10, and that was 15 years ago and I still remembered it. I also love how both of them are trying to sound intellectual while they try to figure things out, when neither of them can even talk properly. My tip for this is to stop trying so hard to get on the blooper right at the start. You need an uninterrupted 60 seconds to get through the race, so why are you rushing when you don't know what effects are on? Also, you don't need the blooper for the whole race. If you get a fastmode one, you literally don't need the blooper at all, just cross the course yourself.

I learned from a speedrun of this, that a random code is activated every 10 seconds, and lasts for 30 - 40 seconds. Therefore, you can have 3 - 4 different effects going at any given time. Hope this helps Peebs and Jeff! Good luck! Could you guys upvote this so it can get pinned by them?

If you get the warping hack, you can get the eighth shine in Gelato Beach at any time. It takes a bit of luck, but it'll let you skip the entirety of Gelato except that shine and Shadow Mario. Also, the goal is not shines, but beating Shadow Mario in all the levels.

Here's a tip for the Blooper Surfing Safari. If you win the race, the Shine Sprite will appear immediately. If you have to talk to the guy after finishing, that means you're going to die.

You guys literally don’t need to worry about shines in the hub or bonus shines. You HAVE to do the first 7 missions in EVERY world, and then Corona Mountain...unless you can glitch your way into Corona Mountain, of course. But this also means that literally EVERY other shine in the game is mostly useless, only used to reach progression thresholds like unlocking Yoshi or the nozzles in the hub

I hope they read this: Getting shines in the hub area or from blue coins will not help you in any way to reach the final level and the credits. The only thing that helps you get to Bowser is beating the "Shadow Mario" levels in each of the 7 main stages.

Hey guys I want to see you at least have another shot at this so I've got a road map here for you: -Blue coins are important for this playthrough, 10 = one shine purchased from the Tanooki shop, erasing "M" graffiti grants one, the X O and Triangle graffiti requires you to erase one and reach it's twin in time. Other than that they're scattered through the hub and levels, and some enemies give them such as the off-color duckbills on the beach level. Blue birds also carry blue coins so spray them out of the sky. Other quick easy ones in the hub I remember are in the jail cell and hidden in the sewers. -Try the first level again, and remember there are shines to get in the hub, particularly the jump glitch could get you up to the giant Shine, which cleaning it makes a shine spawn. You CAN get in the red pipe on top of the Shine Gate and access that level but...It's first couple of missions are rough. -To get past the yellow slime or the giant pineapple plugging up the red pipe to the Hotel level, you need Yoshi. To unlock Yoshi, you usually either have to get to a certain amount of shines, or I used to think it was triggered by completing a few missions in the Theme Park. Which by the way you're close to unlocking. -Don't get hung up on the Blooper race, you can focus on other levels and return there if you need to, there are enough shines elsewhere. -There are several easy 1-up opportunities you can already access, the bells in the first level hanging in the wall drop at least 1, I remember 3 though, and in the sewers under the ocean in the hub there's at least 1 other 1-up, don't forget about the campfire on the island as well. -To get to that shine behind the gate you unfortunately need the Turbo F.L.U.D.D. But if the game starts the Mario Skating glitch try and ram through, it might still count. There's also a fairly easy one hidden in a town tower that you just need a guy to be sitting on that roof, talk to him and he should charge you to throw you through the window to that Shine. That might not show up until later though.

You get that Shine by using the Turbo Nozzle to knock the door down, by the way. It won't help you get to Bowser though. None of the Shine Sprites will bring you any closer to Bowser.

True. Though, they still need more Shines in order to access the other levels. That being said, I think at this point if there is any hope of them beating Bowser they would need to glitch past the barrier to Bowser's level and then get past the loading zone. And then there'll be a whole new set of hurdles to get past. Oh, and I almost forgot.......they'll need the rocket nozzle too. At least, I think they will need to unlock the rocket nozzle in order to actually use it within the Bowser level.(right?)

@@KutieDragon I'm pretty sure you unlock the Rocket Nozzle independently in each level, so you can unlock it in the Bowser level even if you don't have it in Delfino Plaza.

i think the roblem is that when one thing went wrong you instantly assume its a fail but if you didnt do that alot of times would have actually been fine and would have lasted less time than the run you gave up on and other times wouldve been a winning run

There are probably a number of flags scattered throughout the course that need to be hit in order, that's generally how racing games safeguard against major exploits. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYvFp2uspJ2ol6c This person took a shortcut that doesn't require the bloopers at all, and hits all of the checkpoints. Idk how hard this would be with everything going insane, but they finished in about 20 seconds. So it MIGHT be possible in one of the 30-second windows the game sometimes gives you :P

theres a glitch with the pepper where you take it to the door with a shine behind it and you sit it down a block beside the colored tile and you jump between the pepper and the wall and when you land there wont be enough space for mario to be standing so it repels him through the wall goodluck

Bird from the future here the thing I hate most about sunshine is the blooper race and I’m pretty sure it is the second hardest level in the game right behind lava boat but I haven’t played the game in awhile I think there’s one harder than blooper racing

You should definitely get blue coins. Not just when they happen to coincide with your path but make a plan on getting them more often. Number of shines determine how progress is unlocked so if you get more shines that way, you get more levels and more flood powers.

guys, none of the extra shines matter. The only way to beat the game is to get to all of the shadow mario shines in each level. That will open up the last level, which you beat the level and beat bowser to beat the game. Any extra shines do nothing.

If you don’t know about the bloopers the pink one is the fastest but is hard to control the green one is the slowest and is the most easiest to control and the yellow one is medium speed and is ok to control The pink and the green might be opposite
