I love how instead of having a difficulty slider or "you died X times, here's some help", you can make the game easier by taking your time and exploring the game. Compared to modern games the exploration is quite minimal, but at it's time it was probably incredible to have hidden branching paths. What I love about NSMBU is that it brings back the interconnected map of SMW, with elements of SMB3's maps such as the toad houses and enemies that block your path, and the secret exits that have been in the games since the start.

in most of Bowser's Boss fights he kind of surrenders, in Super Mario 64 he is defeated but he always says he will return with revenge, however in Super Mario World is...dark, Bowser just appears to go into a total state of shock, his face goes from stress and anger to a completely terrified and panicked face, notice every time when you attack Bowser here, he makes a scared face realizing he's being attacked and then in the third part he looks completely terrified and stressed just wanting to win despite Mario being very resilient and persistent, Bowser would NEVER stop wanting to win at all costs, and when he is finally defeated, he seems to surrender but doesn't say a word or angry wanting revenge, here he actually seems so scared that he surrenders completely, and also notice how he leaves, he just leaves but in kind of an agonized way *Bowser really was scared of Mario*

My favorite video game of all time. My parents had recently divorced, my dad remarried and my stepsister had moved in with us, she had given me her snes along with a copy of super Mario world. I had also recently started kindergarten, so this game really helped bring some joy during a time in which my life was changing rapidly and I was experiencing a lot of stress. The bright colors, the cheerful vibe of some of the levels and music, it was like having an alternative world to escape to where none of the burdens i experienced existed. Super Mario Wonder just released and in many ways feels like a true follow up to this masterpiece.
