@psyko It's weird hearing that, because I (somehow) always knew about the secret path to the star world, from what I remember. I was more accustomed to beating the game by using the Star World than actually beating the game by just taking all the normal exits.

Did you ever unlock Special World every level of Star World has to be completed by finding a key with the exception of one however this level does have a key and if you find it instead of completing the level through the goal posts as normal then it will lead you to the centre star of the Star World and teleport you to the Special World where the level titles are those 80's surfie terms like radical, bodacious, tubular....etc and the levels are pretty difficult I might had. Not Super Mario Bros - The Lost Levels difficult but you get the point. It's hard to find this place.

I might add* sorry. Oh and it's the level on Star World at the bottom right of the star. If you complete this level without finding the key it will just lead you in circles around Star World therefore you must find the key. Like I said every level of Star World HAS to be completed with a key except this particular level and it's meant to throw you off to make you think there is no key but there is, it's just very well hidden cause it leads to Special World.

Many of the boss battles here showcase some great ways of using Mode 7 where the fact Mode 7 is being used was/is basically invisible to the player (as a technological feat rather than an artistic effect). And I think, outside of really obvious uses where it totally makes sense (like F-Zero and Super Mario Kart for example) this really is the best way to use such a mode. I really appreciate how Nintendo's designers showed some real restraint and class and understanding of their craft when using Mode 7 to great effect in this game. Similarly, I really wish more of the third party games on SNES had been considered as thoroughly when their creators decided to use that mode too.

One of my all time favorite games when I was a kid. So much to do and being able to replay levels over and over was so much fun. It wasnt until 2006 or 2007 I learned that you could also replay the castles. That was something I wanted to do but never knew, but instead i would start new files and play over and over again. Mario Bros 3 will still always be my favorite Mario game, especially for NES. This will be among my top favorite games for the SNES.

IGGY KOOPA’S BATTLE: Iggy Koopa is standing on the giant upside-down shell platform surrounded by lava. He cannot be hurt that Mario jumps onto his head and he must knock him into the lava off of the tilting platform. He can also throw giant fireballs at Mario.
