Hey everyone, thought I'd make a tips and tricks video for the hardest of the "Boy" trophies in order to get the Platinum for Super Meat Boy. It is a little on the long side but when I was trying this by myself I would've given anything to find a video that could assist me or give me pointers that I hadn't realised yet. Hopefully this is the case for you and I hope that something in this video will give you the extra information you need to succeed. Good luck to any and all who attempt or complete this, it is truly a huge achievement.

I was a bit nervous about going for the Impossible Boy/Platinum, but this video definitely gave me some good tips and 24,000 deaths later, I finally was about to get that bastard platinum about 7 hours ago. It felt amazing seeing that trophy pop and would like to thank you for the good tips on some of these levels. I struggled getting a two level streak going but after so many practices I decided to say screw it and went 7-6x to 7-20x in order, then came back to 7-1x to 7-5x without going back to the map once. Once I saw the platinum pop I legit screamed at the top of my lungs and almost did a victory lap around my apartment lol. Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I finally got the Impossible Boy trophy last night after owning this game since 2014 and playing it off an on again for YEARS!! Your strategic advice on levels 7-7, 7-13, and 7-18 really helped me pull those off consistently to the point where I no longer panicked if I saved them for the last few. Many Thanks~

@@Ultima456 You're welcome 😄 I still can't do the trick you showed in 7-7 where you just jump straight up to the top easily, because I hit the first razor blade every time😅 , but at least I could jump easily from the first fan to second, which made the level so much easier! I started beating it at least 75% of the time after that.

great video dude, its the only trophy i need for plat and lvl 13 and 19 are the two i have never finished before, so i think getting the impossible boy trophy will destroy my brain completely but for most of the levels i will use your tips and strats!! congrats to this and once again, really really great vid!!!

From my recollection, it was a different beast altogether. All of the other ones seemed easy compared to this last challenge. The only thing you have to remember is that if you completed all the others, then this one is definitely possible! Good luck and I hope this helps! :D

Do do you have to do every single level in cotton alleys with out dying once the whole time? Like if you were at level 15 and died you had to start all the way from level 1 again?

Yep. All 20 levels without dying, in any order.

@@blxck1cetea You have to complete all 20 levels without dying. Do the levels have to be in order? No. You can exit a level if you are about to die and retry it. If you exit the world however or switch from light world to dark world or vice versa, you lose progress and must start again from scratch.

Are u using analog or dpad? Everyone usually says dpad(cause of the twitch movements) but it sounds like ur using analog to me

I think I used analog mostly but the dpad started to play a part the longer I played. I wish I could recall which is better, for me though I think it was the analog because I could control how much I wanted to do whatever I was trying to do. Honestly, I think I ended repeating the levels so much I started using what I thought was the best one for each stage.

Only problem I see with the dpad is that it's either 100% or 0%. The analog stick can do everything in between. When you think about it like that you merely need to see which stages require you to be using the dpad for there parts and which need you to find a middle ground in which case you use the analog.

But as far as I know the game literally only is coded for left and right hence the dpad should win out due to more clutch twitch movements

If that's the case then dpad would be better but I'm not sure on that. Use whatever you feel most comfortable with.

I can't figure out how you jump off walls so easy in just a few hops please tell me

Hmm, I'm fairly sure it's just about timing. My guess is that when you are on the walls and you jump off there's a bit of a delay and you don't want the delay to be there you want it to be instant? If that's the case firstly I'd say it's about timing, if you're pressing the X button or whatever your using to jump a little too early you'll essentially be jumping off nothing and then you'll have to correct by pressing X again when you land. If you feel like you're definitely pressing it at the right time then it could be issues with the controller, I know that when I did this I was using a pretty new controller but I still felt like the game was cheating when I would press the button exactly at the right time and it wouldn't go through. I mentioned this in either this video or the other one in which I succeeded, it was the stuff about dropped/eaten inputs. I've read your question again and I've interpreted it another way. It could also be that I'm making shorter hops by only tapping the X button, to get Bandage Girl to jump around the place pretty quickly, for stages like 7-6 you need to keep that X button held down all the way when you make those big jumps. I wish I could help more but it's all about the practice, the consistent practice, the longer you play and the more you try the more stuff you'll work out. Good luck and hope some of this helped! :D

omfg finally someone speaks about the fucking dropped inputs, it's like no one has played this game long enough to know it's a dropped input and not the player's fault, I literally get so many fucking dropped inputs it's pathetic it's like 1 every 75 inputs and I've even gotten 2 fucking dropped inputs in a row, the worst is when it adds inputs you didn't even do like sometimes meat boy just starts running much faster in relation to the force you are applying to the button, i remember the last level in the kid warpzone nearly made me throw my fucking controller that was the level i remember i that the most dropped inputs... it was a fucking hell... pair this up with the shit was engine and you've gotten yourself an amazing game! i don't even know why i play this shit and why I'm even trying to get the platinum for it when you can just lose a run by a dropped input... it's so fucking annoying, plus the ps4 version has shit characters in comparison to the other versions... fuck this game

What a passionate comment. Alright so dropped inputs, I can't remember if I talked about it in the video but if I didn't here's a suggestion. I've noticed that sometimes the dropped inputs can be caused by the controller's battery. For example I tend to just keep my control plugged in all the time because I have the system in my room rather than playing on a couch, so I'm sitting only about a metre or two away from the screen. The reason I mention the battery is because I feel like if the controller's battery drops a bit below 100% and then has to recharge back to 100% that can cause the controller to become non-responsive for a split second and if you happen to press an input at that moment it will drop it. As for the added inputs, it's probably a similar concept and it didn't happen to me very frequently so hopefully that's the case for you. My suggestion would be to play without the controller being attached to the PS4. When the battery level drops and you get the message plug it back in. If you play without having the controller attached then it's either the controller itself or the game. 1 in 75 is much higher than I was getting, I'd say around 1 in 500 or 1 in 1000 for me but it's been almost 2 years since I did it so it's tough to recall perfectly. Anyway I hope you get it sorted and keep going, if you're this far you can get it, I'm sure of it. Good luck and don't stop fighting! :D

I always play smb with the controller plugged in and i try to aim the light bar at the ps4, maybe that's a the problem i just need to chill out about it, maybe it's my controller, I also try to hit the buttons from the bottom up if that makes sense, yeah maybe it's not 1/75 but it's pretty fucking close and it drives me insane I must just have a bad luck with the inputs, I'm gonna try to do as you say I hope it will help, you did seem to have a lot of dropped inputs in the video so it was probably lower than 1/500 for you but you probably can't bring yourself to say a lower number cus this is even pathetic to talk about how a game can have fucking dropped inputs when the first versions of tetris didn't... but anyways I'll just keep the grind going popping back into the game everyday until i make the runs, I'm just trying to keep my sanity at this point... amazing job getting the platinum tho dude, i forgot but mention it in the main comment but really good job man I feel like I'm not gonna be able to do it, beating cotton alley without dying is ridiculous

Well good to know that you've got a few things that you can change up to try and make it work for you. Yeah, totally right on the quality, people nowadays cannot do their jobs properly, a real shame... hence why games like Tetris are still being played today. The game is still amazing though and I did enjoy the challenge of it and the feeling that you get from beating is second to none. I roared out loud in my house when I got it, it was incredible. For reference it took me about 3-4 consecutive days of playing about 4 hours a day to get it from memory. I'm pretty sure that's what it was. Anyway man, thanks for the praise, I really hope you can get back into it and keep trying because having another person get this Platinum is such a good feeling. If you can do this, you can do anything! :D

U dont explain 7-8x all that well. I have passed the lv a few times but never figured out the true timing 2 it. When are u suppose 2 jump back?? I know about the big gap glitch but that's unreliable due 2 it being buggy. When do i jump in a moment a blob is in a location??? I have tried waiting 4 blobs 2 touch each black pole or steel block & tried waiting for a blob on the left & right going up or down 2 use as signals but i can't find a consistent save jump.

You said 8-8x, I'm assuming you mean 7-8? Yeah the stage is quite risky, very high chance to die. Don't really know what else I could've said, I tried to explain all of it as best as possible. From what I could tell it's just a quick jump to the right, move slightly right, then jump again, land, get key, immediately jump to the left, carefully jump to the left over the blobs and long jump back to the start. There's no trick to it, it's just terribly precise and unfair, just like life. Took me I think 4 days of constantly doing these levels hundreds and hundreds of times to get this. In my opinion this is still the hardest thing I've ever done when it comes to video games and I'm not aware of anything harder. Just keep at it, it'll happen eventually.

As 4 ur reply I'll keep trying; however it seems 2 be the only lv which there is no clear moment 2 jump. i have already paid attention 2 every location possible that could signal the player 2 jump during a blob location but nothing works. if it really is just jump left then right as fast as possible seems unfair the hitboxes on the blobs are off & the ability 2 jump right after landing is unresponsive 4 a fragment of a millisecond due 2 input respond & fps animation after a previous action. Last trophy though bro im not letting it stop me from getting Impossible Boy.

Yeah, like I said, I lot of this is unfair, it's what makes choosing which stages you do and in what order so important. You could choose stages with more randomness for the first ones and leave the skill based ones for later, that way, if you fail due to skill, you just need to practice more. In 7-11x, you can jump over the left sawblades collumn. Also, DO NOT use the strategy for 7-15x in his video's. I never was able to complete the level like that.

or you can just skip the first set of moving saws in 7-11x by jumping over it at the beggining of the level and doing the rest of the level at your own leisure.

Yeah, that's a decent strategy too. If you fail the jump however... and even if you do make it you might screw up, but regardless if you wanna go for it, it's not a bad idea.

Word of encouragement for Impossible boy prospects: I can do it quite consistently and I'm not even near good of a player as youv are (don't even have Impossible boy). Also, regarding the rounding up of Oobs in 7-18x, I see the level is giving you some troubles- you wanna draw circles close around them, you can round them up in 10 seconds that way. I can do it every time.

So I just rewatched that part of the video, your advice makes sense however I felt like drawing circles around them was what I was trying to do for the most part anyway. You might need to explain exactly how you can do it everytime because it seems relatively random how the Oobs react to you.

You ran way too far away from them.

in level 5 I found it easier to do it slowly so if anyone here in 2018 still can't pass level 5 just do it slowly and at your own pace you have 60 secounds for a a+ grade so just take your time or do it super fast like he did but in my opinion compared to me ultima is god level

Congrats on beating it 106%! That's still pretty hard to do! Yeah Impossible Boy is diabolical in difficulty, in my opinion it's the hardest trophy on Playstation in terms of raw skill.

They're all kind of annoying in their own way. This is without question the toughest trophy I've ever had to achieve and it really lives up to it's name of Impossible Boy. Just keep that practice up and you'll get it! :)

I just got the impossible trophy 😅😅 level 19 may seem harder because for some reason the gates close way quicker after a while , let’s say 30-60 mins of trying on this world. Not sure why but if you exit out the game and restart the world, the gates on level 19 will close at the normal speed.
