This is my favorite GDQ event in all the years I've watched. The run is fantastic, everyone's having fun, the runner is funny, likeable, and engaging. His couch members are really good at explaining what's going on, and the interview with the developer is the cheery on top.

It never ceases to blow my mind watching these people do these speed runs on these incredibly hard games. I can't even imagine the time and dedication they must put into playing the same game over and over and over again. I mean, they pretty much have to memorize every last piece of every last level and the slightest mistake can totally ruin a run.

That is very annoying. I wish Breakdown would just be the only commentator and that there wasn't the reader reading the comments from donations, unless it's a smart-ass comment that's really funny.
@NathanWubs10 жыл бұрын
I wish that people would not comment stupid comments on a event that was in 2013. on a fan channel and, before watching AGDQ 2014 where they already got their wish. Hey but at least one party got their wish I guess.
@alanweak10 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't they announce it? These people give their money for this cause so they deserve to be able to include a little comment to be said to everybody. I understand it is annoying though... I would compromise by suggesting they edit the video afterwads by putting in the donations with comments and amounts in the description.
@JVenom10 жыл бұрын
ThisisAlan They do. Check other SGDQ or AGDQ vids. It's just that certain announcers (this one and one other I can think of actually) have no respect for the runners (or just love to hear their own voice), and just talk over them, negating the entire point of the stream, whereas GOOD announcers will work with the runners instead. A great example of GREAT announcer/runner interaction is Witwix 'I Wanna Be The Boshy' AGDQ 2015 run. In that vid the runner cues the announcer during down parts of his video and they work together and NEVER talk over one another.

For those of you wondering about the "Broken Keyboard" incident. The programmer of the game (Tommy) was getting up on Super Meat Boy's release date during a BIG sale that would essentially help Super Meat Boy get the much needed popularity for sales. However, Microsoft did not put Super Meat Boy up on the sale's page, in fact, Super Meat Boy wasn't even in the marketplace at all. This caused a LOT of frustration (and a lot of angry e-mails.) but at least everything worked out well in the end.

What's the logic behind disallowing "naughty words" while doing a marathon that features every kind of mutilation a human can think of? I could feel the darting eyes and sharp intakes of breath through my screen when Ed said "fuck", like he had just said something horribly offensive. You people need to get your priorities straight. No one's going to not donate money or watch the runs just because someone says some "inappropriate" words.

you guys do realize only a small percentage of the donations go to the charity, about 90% - 95% of the donation money is a bonus to the "CEO" or "the one who organized it" Then that person splits it up as a bonus with his colleagues. This is how all donation programs work. Ever wonder why theres stupid donation incentives? its to make the ppl who organize this money, trying to get as much as they can. If you took a finance class in university or college u would learn this. I know the truth hurts but this is the reality.
@AgentGenesis11 жыл бұрын
In their defense, they did do this to provide money towards the battle with cancer and that's what they do. Of course they wouldn't do this for free, the most expensive thing you can give to a person/people is your time. The world runs on money, you should know this.

Games that appear at AGDQ/SGDQ are not governed by popular demand (well, it has to have something worth watching about it to get in) but by who is willing to come to the event, play the game and put in the practice to be good at it on the day. The best way to get a game to appear is to run it yourself, go to the SDA website and offer to do it - the second best way is to build a community around the game at SDA so someone else might take it up.

Are there any more speed runs where the developers of the games are talking? I find it fascinating listening what went into making the game.

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking the third glitch level is one of the most annoyingly difficult ones in the game. If even a speedrunner as amazing as this guy thinks so, then I guess I don't feel that bad about all the deaths I got in there.
