Oh, I don't know about that. Samus only triggered a mechanism that the Space Pirates put there in the first place. We could go on about who's really to shoulder the blame. At least Samus canonically saves a handful of the animals, as seen in Fusion, not sure what she could have done for the others in the first place. But I have always had kind of a soft spot for ol' Crocomire. Out of all the things that either blocked my path or wanted to murder my face horribly, Crocomire's one of the few that I didn't want to murder in kind.

Can we just talk about how well done the final boss is? We're obviously underwhelmed and surprised mother brain was killed so easily, at first, then confused as to why we couldn't leave. Then, just before it dawns on us that this isn't over, the fight begins for real. It's tough, and we're so confused as to what we're doing wrong; how can we kill her before she uses her lazar? and then we realize we weren't supposed to win; we're saved by the baby metroid, now incredibly large. Super Metroid, in my opinion, (despite me having not played many of the games on the SNES) is one of, if not the best game to come out for the SNES, so impressive.

Major kudos to you for killing Draygon the “proper” way. Personally, in order to save time and get the best ending, I just bite the bullet, take out the cannons, and use the Grappling Beam-amperage combo (remember kids, it’s the amps that’ll definitely kill you, not the volts).

I prefer to microwave Draygon by abusing Plasma Beam in combination with x-ray. Normally, you have to use the space time beam, before can execute this trick.

The fight with Mother Brain is actually quite gruesome. Look at how the brain thinned and had the colour of necrosis after Metroid sucked her life force out.

Mother brain's beam isn't impossible to dodge. I and my brothers took turns trying to do it when we were little. It causes her to reset and either blast the beam at you a second time, or to shoot out miscellaneous attacks until she decides to give it another try. I was totally convinced there would be some kind of reward if we could just beat her without the metroid baby having to die. Not that you're given much chance to throw more attacks her way before the next beam. It's super weird that I've yet to see a video in which somebody evades it. Because it is definitely something I used to do. I live in Aus and had a pal copy, and have never managed to dodge on emulator. BUT that could just as easily be because I suck and/or have forgotten the proper technique. I'm fairly sure it had something to do with baiting the beam towards yourself in a corner, then jumping towards MB as it tries to track you (so along the length of the beam). By the time you start falling again, MB stops the beam, so you can land safely. Then she goes back to her ability rotation (or starts charging up another beam).

Probably the darkest game Nintendo has ever done. You notice some of the art styles on some of the tiles? Some of them look like demon heads. The music speaks for itself too. Lot of chromatic scales and tritones. 80% is dark. I just finished going through this game tonight for the first time in over 20 years. The design of the Mother Brain has always stuck with me. It was obnoxiously fun. Going to give it another go.

The Mother Brain fight felt pretty great. I definitely didn't beat it on my first try. I remember finally doing enough damage, and the game specifically does that Hyper Beam shit so it leaves you with JUST enough life for the cinematic. You can die from it if your health is too low. Always have that feeling of "IT'S ON NOW BITCH!" when the last Metroid dies and gives you the beam lol

Fun fact: there is a way to cheese draygon. When the battle starts you can shot the things that shot those lasers and they will be exposed, then when dragon appears then run into him so he grabs you. He will spin you in the air and when you get close enough, you can grappling beam those exposed spots where you will take damage, but draygon will too. After a few seconds, BOOM, draygon gust got shocked into a crisp. (There will be no visible difference if you kill him the normal way or secret way, the secret way is just to take care of draygon easily. I thought the secret way was the intended way to kill him, but later I found out this you can just shoot at his weak spot.)

I managed to beat this game 100%. Every boss fight is epic, but pretty dark for Nintendo (but then, it was the '90s). Ridley is the hardest, but there's no doubt Mother Brain is the best.

Wow, I never knew that you could beat Ridley in the beginning like that and I also didn't know that you could roll under both of the Torizo statues to get around them. I also have never personally seen Kraid die so quickly in this game before as I always fought him before I had found the High Jump boots so getting up to those platforms took a little while longer for me to get up to and that I couldn't jump high enough to shoot around his hand and had to wait until he flexed his fingers down to shoot. And that you could avoid Phantoon's fireballs by charge somersaulting. And I didn't know that you could be Dragoon without it grabbing you and having to use the grapple beam on the exposed electrical circuits.

a curious fact of Phantoon,if he notice that his blue fire circle attack is working,he wont stop using it until you counter him,i discovered it on my first playthrough,i didn't notice that i can destroy the blue fireballs
