This category means Reverse All Minibosses & Boss Order, also known as RBMBO, Reverse Boss MiniBoss Order. Bomb Torizo is not included, not by my decision, but I'm definitely ok with it. When you kill motherbrain, bomb torizo disappears. There is a way to bring BT back, and also a way to skip BT by glitching to the power bombs above the ship before getting regular bombs, but there are also other arguments such as not considering bomb torizo (or ceres ridley) as a boss since they take damage from regular uncharged shots. www.speedrun.com/super_metroid_category_extensions#RBMBO

This was an insane run Zoast, congrats! Really curious though, how can you go about bringing BT back after the escape flag is triggered? Can you reset the escape flag somehow, then re-trigger it with spacetime? Just can't fathom how that's possible haha. Would you mind briefly explaining?

@@JohnSmith-fz1ws I don't really know all the details, but space time is banned in this category. Apparently there is a way to use Xray to undo the escape trigger, then you'd redo the escape trigger, probably similarly to glitched any%. You'd need to do the BT skip in glitched any% in the beginning as well, I guess. Also, thanks!

@@zoasty @John Smith - Congrats on the RBMBO WR, Zoast! This run was really fun to watch. Also, gl with your RBO practice! As Zoast said, X-ray can be used to undo the escape trigger, but you have to be careful, because you have to avoid setting BT's "mini-boss flag" to "defeated" in the process. For example, if you navigate the OoB in Landing Site to get to the location used in Any% Glitched to ACTIVATE the escape flag, but you instead activate X-ray for only a brief moment, you will turn OFF the escape flag (RAM address 7E:D821 will be set to "00"), but BT's flag will be set to "defeated", so he won't appear (RAM address 7E:D828 will be set to "FF"). Same thing unfortunately happens if you navigate to the "backup" location for triggering the escape mentioned in Total's Any% Glitched Tutorial and then briefly activate X-ray while facing right. After a bunch of trial-and-error, I found a strat that sets both 7E:D821 and 7E:D828 to "00", meaning the escape is turned off AND BT's flag is set to "alive." Interestingly, because the strat sets all "nearby" RAM values to "00" as well, the effects are essentially identical to a Spacetime Beam Reset (all bosses/mini-bosses are alive again, all doors are reset to their original states, and all previously collected items re-appear). And, if you save and reset, you'll go back to Ceres. It's like a "beamless" Spacetime Reset. I'll be posting a video on that shortly. I discovered this because I wanted to figure out a way to kill ALL bosses/mini-bosses (*including* BT) with Hyper Beam on console (without cheats/hacks), haha. Mission accomplished. Although, Ceres Ridley will always be off-limits, because you can't re-load a game file and keep Hyper Beam... :( Sorry for the long-winded comment lol. Congrats again, Zoast!

This run is insane. Such amazing strats and precise technique. I had never seen Rambo run before so this WR run was a perfect intro. I have wanted to do a SM song for a while now, but everyone has done the main themes to death at this point. This run gave me the idea to use the Werps from the Tourian elevator glitch and make a house/ trance song with them. I guess will be obligated to call the song Light Switch Rave. I will keep ya posted on the progress.

Almost a year late, the sound has story purpose as well. The “super” Metroid stops attacking you when that noise starts because it heard that’s noise when “it’s mother” tried to save it so long ago.

Ten years ago, when I discovered about RBO made by humans, I was astonished - but this is beyond any thing I could think possible back then ! Congratulations for this incredible run ! I still got a question : after canceling the escape timer after beating Mother Brain, what's happening if you go back to Tourian and if you return to Mother Brain's boss room ? I think the room is just in "escape mode", isn't it ?

I don't know anything about the out-of-bounds stuff, but I figure with how crazy it all seems that someone should've found a way to get early Gravity Suit by now. Maybe it is possible, but it's just faster to take a bajillion item and farming detours for the Crystal Flash?

You have to count how many times you wrap around the screen. The out of bounds elevator transition block is high up so you need to either infinite bomb jump up or do a very difficult blind short charge and shinespark.

i made this comment before the x-ray scope stuff started and now I'm at. . . 46:00 and my mind is just kinda blown. I barely kept up with the TAS, but seeing these strats used in RTA is very impressive, gj on the run.

If you collect Gravity suit before Varia suit, can also take damage if you going in hot places or into to lava?

gravity protects from heat damage, but you have to defeat phantoon to get it, and the rules of this category prevent you from doing so until after all of norfair.

yeah hyper beam is some weird combination of beams, it reverts to the "normal" beams when you save and reload. you can also skip wave beam early and it gives it a fake wave beam after save and quit. plasma isnt actually in your inventory is the funny thing. if you turn on spazer beam in pause menu for this, you lose plasma beam, b/c you don't legitimately have it.

just to add to this, it’s apparently possible to escape Tourian and kill all the bosses with Hyper Beam (on console) without ever starting the escape timer, so you never have to save and reset to stop the timer... just found this new vid that shows you how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5LRnXuYadCgqsU crazy stuff haha

​@@kylesarino8053 fun stuff! One of my favorite runs in the past was the old glitched any% with space time beam, but alas it was eventually outdated. I guess it's ok, S/T has a nasty habit of crashing an actual snes. Not totally applicable to this category I think b/c it's not killing mother brain first (and.. getting plasma without killing draygon, and without GT Code would be very difficult and probably slow!) and well, I don't think S/T is allowed for this either : | I don't make the rules! Andreww basically created this category so I guess he did.

@@zoasty ​haha, yeah, S/T is super finicky, especially whenever I try to escape the GT fight then wrongwarp back to Crateria :/ interestingly, I tried the S/T technique in that vid a bunch of times and it never crashed on console... seems to be comparably stable to the "trigger the escape" technique you use in any% GT. but for sure, that isn't applicable to RAMBO haha. just thought @1993Southparkfan might be interested in a way to avoid saving/resetting so you don't lose Hyper. could imagine it being fun to have a category like "kill all bosses with hyper" that just allows everything (GT, S/T, X-ray climb, and OoB) so it could be completed in a reasonable time... it'd be a glitch fest, but hey, a lot of people love watching glitchy runs like RAMBO lol. plus it'd be interesting to try to optimize that route...

I don't think moondance is better in this category. With RBO the route is leading you toward ridley... with RAMBO it's leading you back to Tourian so some backtracking is already necessary. I'd have to look at it again to be sure though.

super famicom controller, i switched the cord out to a USA cord because they are longer. Easy to switch cords, they just pull in and out of the circuit board connector.

I can't figure out how the hell you store the shinespark to get out of Draygon's room at 1:06:36. Is it something funky with the out-of-bounds shinespark at 1:04:00? Awesome run, and the route change into Lower Norfair and over to GT was amazing.

There are a lot of exploits in this run, I can try to explain specific ones if you ask, but I don't think I will always know the answer to who figured them out exactly. Some are quite old, now.
