i don't think you can really compare games of different genres as well as series. unless you compare legitmate statistics such as sales or net profits. In it's own right, ocarina of time was a revolutionary game but i don't think it has aged too well. A lot of early 3d games haven't aged too well, but good 2d sidescrollers/platformers super metroid or super mario world or even sonic 2 seem to be classics that age much better because the concept of the style of game was well understood by the programmers and developers. 3d platformer or adventure games such as super mario 64, or ocarina of time haven't aged too well because the teams didn't have at least 3 years of experience with the concept.

extraintelligence I guess Metroid 2 just glances over the million of Metroids that Samus slaughtered indirectly when their home world got blown up. At least I think it blows up. That's what usually happens to every planet/installation she sets her foot on. (Okay, she left a few planets intact during the Prime trilogy, but that one's no longer canon - I think. Nintendo's a bit vague on that.)

EvilDoresh Actually, she doesn't blow up SR-388 until Metroid Fusion. Yoshio Sakamoto basically said "If you want it (the Prime series) to be canon, it's still canon." Basically, they were written by a third party without Sakamoto having any direct influence, but he also knows that Prime is very popular in the Western market, so he leaves it up to the gamer to decide. The planets that Samus has blown up in canonical order are Phaaze, Zebes, and SR-388. Three may not sound like much, but that's at least two more than pretty much anyone or anything else, including the Death Star.

The first only destroyed the former pirate base (which I guess counts as an "installation") It could work either way with the Prime trilogy, as that one's self-contained. Glad to see they're finally playing Super Metroid. Played this game for the first time about a year ago and loved every minute of it. Such a great classic game, a shame we don't have more cool side-scroller games that are like this with such a great atmosphere For all the commenters who seem to think people like me (people who played the game) will complain about how they play - I certainly wouldn't. Then again, I haven't had a problem with the way they played Wind Waker or any other game. I watch this channel out of the comedy they make around video games, and I've grown interested in them as people. It's nice to hear more about them so they're not just some wacky voice over to video game footage like some other let's play style channels. I wasn't perfect in my Super Metroid playthrough, so I doubt they will be either. I remember beating Castlevania IV and being so pumped, and it's a shame the grumps decided not to go forward with it but even then I don't see a real need to criticize them for not playing it better. The difference is when we get stumped on a game, we just shelf it and come back to it later. They can't do that - I mean they have, sometimes with games like No Time to Explain - but when they get frustrated and stop that's when we don't see any more videos. And you think posting comments about how they're so stupid and dumb for not figuring something out think that works? TL;DR: Yay Super Metroid, everyone stop complaining about how people will start complaining - complainers, cut it out.

I love how when you fly to the space colony and to Zebes, there's a scene where the name flashes on screen. But then, there's no other part in the game after that where that happens, so why even set that up as a storytelling device? It's like a Quentin Tarantino movie, where he introduces a storytelling device that you think is gonna carry through the rest of the movie, only to never feature again.

Heeey, Barry! I have a minor suggestion. Look at the part of the video where they ate going down the elevator. Notice how Samus is invisible? The if you change the fps for the recording equipment (if that is possible with what you guys have) that should stop. This will be important later as certain enemy projectiles have the same fps speed and so all we will see during those fights is Arin and Danny screaming frantically, jumping around like they have a thumb spasm and people who haven't played the game will be horribly confused.

Mega Man deals with the internet, Samus deals with pirates in space, Mega Man is like Tron, Samus is like Indiana Jones mixed with Luke Sky walker and Link but also a girl, Mega Man has lots games, Samus only has 9, Mega Man can take his the bosses powers and uses them, Samus get her power from a weird looking bird stone, it took Mega Man forever to get from 2-D to 3-D, it took Samus a little while to get from 2-D to 3-D, Mega Man has to deal with a mad scientist that never learns, Samus has to deal with a space pirate, everyone knew Mega Man was a boy, everyone was shock to find out Samus was a girl, Mega Man was made and raised by Dr.Light, Samus was raised by alien or alien birds, Mega man gets help from his friends(most of the time), Samus gets help from solders(sometimes), Mega Man has turned evil, Samus never turned evil, Mega Man main color is blue, Samus main color doesn't stay the same,Mega Man has a rival, Samus don't have any rivals, Mega Man and Samus both derives a statue, Mega Man and Samus both have good games, Mega Man and Samus are awesome.
