Super mom cheetah Mamma Sita and her six cubs

Meet the super mum cheetah of the Serengeti. Known as Mamma Sita by the guides, this amazing cheetah defies all the odds and manages to raise the majority of her cubs to adulthood. This is a staggering achievement when only 5% of cheetah cubs will survive beyond 18 months of age! Not only is Mamma Sita an incredibly successful mother but rather amazingly, she has adopted the cub of another female cheetah! Watch this video to hear about her story!

I wonder if that could be to her benefit in some way? Cheetah siblings will stay together after mum leaves them and they all will hunt together and take care of each other for a while. The larger the group, the better their chances? So adopting another cub could help to give her own kids a better chance at survival. Also, if the cub she found is male and she only had one son, then the two boys would form a coalition.

It's so overwhelming and overjoyed to see my fav fastest cat's big family growing up to adults for the first time . Supermom sita is truly extraordinary ! Adopting one more cub is still more amazing when there are already too many to feed. She must be fighting everyday to feed these cubs. 👍👏👏 Truly strong courageous and extraordinary 👍👍🙏🙏 and the commentator is so excited and happy . Seems she loves the cheetahs so much !!!!

Cheetahs have a very high success rate in hunting. Sometimes though they get stolen. But when theives like hyenas arent around they usually have more than enough.

Amazing story of the mama cheetah and her cubs. Truly a miracle mama having a large litter, raising and protecting her family all by herself. Males have it so easy. May she and her cubs stay healthy, strong and safe from predators. Hunting 2 or 3 times a day and having to watch out for hyenas, lions and leopards is a hard life. Beautiful cats!

difference in cat smartness is very noticable. There are lot of female cats in the farm where i work and 1 senior female cat strikes as especially smart. Very good at understand human body language, understand commands very well and she always put kittens in the places where they always survive.

Most likely to do with her experience and the fact that she had a good mother. You often see young mothers - who had a bad mother themselves - struggle to raise their cubs as they've had no role model to learn from. Also, if a cheetah is young and inexperienced, she's likely to make a lot of mistakes with the first few litters.

Biggest problem for cheetahs is combating hyenas just after the cheetah has made a kill. Hyenas quickly pick up the scent of a recent kill which allows the cheetah little time to feed, so they must devour as much meat as they can before the hyenas arrive. Cheetahs instinctively know they are no match for a clan of snarling, vicious and marauding hyenas.

Not just Hyenas though. Lions steal just as much. Leopards will take a Cheetahs kill sometimes, but not as much.
