The quake at Kentucky kingdom was put in 1992 closed 2004. The reason for the closure was it was down more then it was open. They put in a water park attraction in its place. One thing I loved was the sound it made

You two have really cleaned up this series a ton. Very impressive.

Thank you, in the new format it's a lot easier for me to produce, taking around 5 to 7 hours for a whole video compared to the 15 to 25 hors for the old format. I also think the new format is more watchable.
@JordanOverstreet2 жыл бұрын
@@CoasterCollege it’s definitely more watchable! I still like the older vids but the newer ones are easier to consume I thing especially for any GP who might stumble upon them! :))

Excellent start to season 2, love the new format 👍 There are so few channels covering flat rides & they have such interesting stories to tell... these videos are a valuable resource preserving some of the history of these (many extinct) rides. Absolutely love the extended footage of each model, particularly great that you got on-board footage of the 1st one with the halves that slide towards each other.... that ride looks fun-as-hell! Also, having the ride footage that matched to your narrative made it much easier to follow than a lot of non-related footage.... and the personal experience was an awesome touch, nice reminder that these machines are built for the sole purpose of having fun 😎👍

Glad you enjoyed, I agree that unlike roller coasters, there is very little effort going to preserve and share the story of most flat rides. I am glad that FROTW is helping to do that!

There is also a Super Nova in operation at Duinen Zathe in the Netherlands. At my visit in 2019, the ride cycle was rather tame, but I'm still glad to have ridden this rare breed :)

My dad engineered the supernova for Mondial, so proud. As a kid I made countless free rides on it at fairs, my all time favourit. There's one located in a amusement park here in the Netherlands (Duinenzathe). I rode it, but it rides on a program and it's really boring...
@Coyotek43 жыл бұрын
Here's my current wishlist for future FROTW videos Matterhorn / Flying Bobs & Trabant / Hully Gully - these were mentioned in a previous video, and I look forward to seeing them. . Round Up Rainbow / 1001 Nacht Paratrooper Flipper Orbiter Whip Miami 'Cuddle-Up' (basically an 'n'th-degree teacup ride) ... I'll never forget the in-the-dark "Iceberg" at Dorney Park

We used to have a Supernova called Indiago at the State Fair of Texas. It was run manually and I always rode it because of its unpredictability and random movement. These rides are fun. I wish I knew what happened to Indiago because it hasn't been at the fair in years.

@coaster college there is another supernova located in duinezathe in the netherlands. first it was a moving fair ride but duinezathe bougt it so it could permenantly stand in its park. i think that they also redid the theming but i dont know if that is 100% true.

Considering how short a time "Canyon Trip" was at Morey's Pier, I consider myself lucky for ever even having the chance to ride it. And as the late-80s was when I finally started breaking my fear of such flatrides, it's a credit I will always cherish. At least I can still see footage of "The Rack"; I presume there does not exist footage from its original location. (I've also been able to ride "Gladiator's Gauntlet", so I can claim credit on two of the three such rides ever produced.)

Love these videos, glad they're back! the only experience I had with these rides was watching the Gladiator's Gauntlet operate in 1992 (I was 11 at the time) at BGW and thinking that it looked very boring and the otsr were kinda pointless.

I rode the Super Nova at Alton Towers in its original location when it was called Energizer and manually operated in the same area as the Corkscrew. Still one of my favorite flats. Whent it was moved the 1st time to near the Black Hole it became boring and now I know why thank you

I've been on the Alton Towers one a few times, but it was called "Energizer" when I rode it. Bone Shaker must had been one of its relocated names which I wasn't aware of. Indeed, a very funny story about the 2 operators if it was true and it then went onto a tamer (automatic) cycle. The same can be said about the Ripsaw (Top Spin) though, as that runs on a tame cycle too and only flips once, where travelling Top Spins tend to be operated manually and can flip multiple times

I remember when dreamworld had a wakakki wave called the wipeout, it was really fun and well themed and a blast to ride as a kid but i eventually found out that they tore it down in 2019 along with the tt2 as their service lives ended, they tried to get it running but giving it being in constant maintenance and the remaining fallout from the dreamworld disaster caused them to axe it and replace it with a cabana lodge. May the ride god john wardley rest it soul Thank you for doing a video on my favorite ride EDIT: don't crucify me for my grammer I fixed it

I was lucky enough to ride the Supernova (I think it was 1001 Nacht or something like that) at a night ride in Germany in the very early 90´s. It was insanely intense! The operators were really rocking the joysticks and the gondola was constantly swinging beyond 90° (far from flipping over), but with only a lapbar it felt extremely out of control and dangerous. Our group had occupied two full rows and we had a blast as we wildly banged into each other. The gondola would tilt to 90° on its way down, you´d look to your side and you´d see the ground coming straight at you. At the lowest point, right before the gondola would pull up again, it swung past 90°. The change in direction would then coincide with a sudden change in acceleration and your whole body would fall sideways into the person next to you. Combined with smoke and strobes, it was quite a trop. But I guess, I wouldn´t have enjoyed it as much if was riding alone or with a unexperienced rider.
