Lauri Hendler was all of 19 years old when this show taped. She'd been doing game show spots since she was about 17 and was a very good game player, who once was the celebrity for a $100,000 Pyramid tournament winner.

Even though the word was Not, she went for Knot. Spelled differently, but pronounced the same way. Words like that were hard for me too as a child.

I don't usually read the description, but I wish I could be sure whether the uhf channel described is still in use, because I always thought it was long obsolete. The gal shoulda got some credit for answering cowboy hat, but I guess rules is rules

at over 17 minutes and over 50 seconds in the next word, why did the contestant say "tie", and she replied back saying "knot", as in tying a knot? He should have said "never" or whatever simple word he would have said, and for her to say "not", also, the judges didn't count that as the wrong word from the guest, I don't understand?

It cannot be considered "wrong" because there's no way to know absolutely which word was being said, and one could put up an argument. They both sounded exactly alike. The original Password always allowed "sound-alikes" too.

Password allows homophone answers. Words that sound the same but spelled different. Knot vs not, two vs too or to, reign vs rain.

When the contestant missed the final clue it should not have gone did Jamie Farr on the same team. It should have gone to the other team to have a fair chance. That just might be one of the faults of the show at the time but still I love watching super password!

The first clue of the $400 game isn't something that comes easily to the average person, since the usage of Demonyms ("the name I or other call themselves") isn't clear cut in the English language. As for me, I'm a prior El Pasoan. :-D
