Yeah, I knew about that. However, doing so messes with his pattern a bit which makes it a liability in both the normal fight, and with speed ko'ing. I chose to take the safer route, and let him gloat a little :D

You forgot to mention that double-hammer smash after the triple ball shot, which (I believe) is a one-hit knockdown if it hits.

Also during SHOW TIME...as soon as he gets up and you can punch...start left jabbing him. You will get counter punches galore and he will not be able to hit you.

Actually, when he gets up after his second knockdown (and providing your KO punch meter is full), the quickest way to put him on the canvas for the final time is to throw an immediate right jab (I'm talking the instant the ref finishes saying "Fight!") as a counterpunch to stun him, then nail him with an Uppercut. By that point in the fight, he'll already be really low on stamina, so those two punches are more than enough to put him away (and maybe add insult to injury, for him.).

In the normal fight, I avoided punching him during the taunt because it alters his pattern a bit when you do, and this isn't a guy you want getting off of his pattern. This also applies to his dizzying strategy as I wouldn't be able to do the double super uppercuts if I had hit his stomach.

Adeigar there's also a grab attack he does that I honestly don't know how to avoid

popkornkid: Before he attempts to grab you, he'll shake his head side to side then raise both his hands, at THAT particular moment, duck down to avoid the grab then punish him with rapid fire jabs using the same button for the uppercut/hook but make sure you press that button in rapid succession for it to work!!! 😉

@@JWZayas1976 Or if you've got him low on stamina (as in, close to a knockdown): duck under the Clown Clamp (I read it described as such on a walkthrough on gamefaqs.com) and as Mac starts to come back to standing upright, blast him with an uppercut. Literally a pop-up uppercut, if you think about it.

Actually Adeigar, I figured out how to dizzy Mad Clown at least twice during the fight, not using the strategy shown. Once you have the super meter fully charged, dodge whatever his next attack is and unload on him with rapid punches in answer (and I have noticed that you have to respond with rapid punches quickly after you dodge). Then lather, rinse and repeat. When done correctly, it'll add up to the 10 consecutive unblocked/not dodged punches required for the dizzy animation (the fact that you evaded his punches is irrelevant). Apparently, he doesn't like being punched in quick succession like that, but it WILL dizzy him, if done correctly (and that can credit you with more than one high-value "Special Prize" for doing so [3,000 just for having been able to dizzy him; 6,000 for dealing him a Super Knockdown before he can recover.])

Adeigar Hey, Ade? Who would you consider your most hated boxers, AKA the Mad Clown/s in the Wii Punch-Out!!, Contender and/or Title Defense forms?

***** Most of the fights in Wii Punch-Out!! were pretty well balanced for the most part, so I didn't have too much trouble after learning most boxers' patterns. Plus, I actually haven't gone for speed-run times for that game yet either, and that was the real enraging part about Mad Clown. However, I do remember Title Defense Super Macho Man and, of course, Mr. Sandman taking awhile to really get the hang of (they punish the player hard on mistakes). Title Defense Bald Bull wasn't very fun either until I learned how to reliably get stars from him (my first win on him was a three star punch during the charge, and boy did that feel good). Who knows, though, once I actually try a perfect run of the game, I may see some more rage inducing aspects :D

Actually you CAN hit Bear Hugger in the gut.. You have to do it when he is about to punch you ( counter punch ). I just watched a guy do it on a speed run.

That's because unlike Bear Hugger, there's a slight delay between the first and second belly pats. He'll pat it once, then pause for a fraction of a second and either do it again or switch to a different attack. The second pat is the one to watch for, if he does it. That's your cue to give him a fast gut shot.

At least, not by their records and profile descriptions (Bear Hugger is Canadian, whereas Mad Clown is Italian). Otherwise, Mad Clown is basically a palette swap of Bear Hugger, with a few minor changes in appearance (Bear Hugger wears no undershirt, Mad Clown does; Bear Hugger has a mustache & beard, Mad Clown is clean-shaven).
