Super Rare 1949 Allard P1 V8!

We are Portsmouth’s oldest garage which was built in the 1930’s. The garage has served the community and started by making engine parts but it has also been a petrol garage, MOT Station and Reliant main dealer for over 25 years which was also the only Reliant MOT statin in Hampshire. Trojan Cars moved to the site in 2007.
We specialise in classic cars, motorcycles and scooters, primarily 1950’s and 1960’s English and American; and especially classic British ‘Rock & Roll’ cars! Plus, we are always on the lookout for interesting collectibles, especially motoring memorabilia, toys, jukeboxes and other items of interest.

My Dad had one in 1963 ! Being a bit of a hot rodder he chopped it down to a 2 seater and took the roof off. He chose it instead of an SS Jag from a bomb site car lot because he was a Ford guy and didn't want to pay the jag fuel bill. He sold it for £100 when my younger brother arrived and bought something sensible a Ford Prefect.

Mark you should point out that the Allard P1 won the Monte Carlo rally in 1952 driven by the owner of the company Sydney Allard !! Not minto but a very good car with grunt!

Still have one of these in the family and it's a convertible model and a 1949 k1 Type. My grandad was Sydney first cousin.

My Dad had one that had a Jag engine. Needed a full restoration, and was eventually sold on to someone who had just that in mind. I'd love to know if it still exists.

I’d check the tyres age and. renew if older than 6 years. Longstone tyres would be able to supply replacements. 10 year old tyres will be hard and rubber comes off as it drives along! Dangerous! Never risk it driving on old tyres. Tread depth is meaningless on old tyres. Check the sidewalls for cracking.

A road burner in 1949 long and fast it won the 1949 Monte Carlo rally outright in the snow nothing came near it !! So wash your mouth out !
