The problem was, it wasn't clearly grounded. At no point can you clearly see the ball in contact with the grass. It's almost impossible for it not to have contacted a blade of grass, but if you can't see it, you can't overturn the on field call.

Not a clear grounding. Close decisions like this is the last thing we need to be worried about with regards to the refereeing. @@michaelmoynihan9591 …..If the ball is visibly touching the grass, while in possession of the attacking player, it doesn’t make any difference if a defenders hand under the ball, the ball touched grass, meaning there is no "held up" situation occurring. The replay clearly shows it touching the grass, while in Ardies possession. What exactly do you think "held up" means mate, because it didn’t happen here and the video categorically shows that.
@biggest23
@biggest23 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelmoynihan9591 ….Mate, I went back to my subscription replay and looked at the TMO process again this morning to check myself and there it is, as plain as fuggin day, in HD, on a big screen, a ball touching the grass, in the in goal area, in the Possession of Ardie. I have no idea what grouping of pixels that the "no try" muppets are using to make their calls but, it doesn’t match the good oil, at all and I doubt the TMO was watching it on something crappy either. The blatant bad call is enough of a weird one but, to have a clumping of Mr Magoos that reckon they couldn’t see it either, just raises that eyebrow up even further. The video evidence does not match the TMO’s call, nor the clumps of white cane walkers. Also, a hand under the ball doesn’t mean far-call, if it doesn’t hold every part of the ball from being grounded. This is some made up law that the Magoo family keep including as if it exists, it doesn’t. Held up, means held up off the ground enough that the ball doesn’t make contact.

Doesn’t matter if there’s 15 entire Brumbies under the ball, if the attacking player retains possession and the ball touches the grass in the in goal area, it’s a try, cut and dried. The only reason Ardies try wouldn’t be a try, is if that hand had stopped the ball touching the grass altogether, which it categorically, clearly visibly didn’t. Hurricanes absolutely robbed by dubious match official ruling and there will inevitably be a bit of a rark up behind closed doors for that TMO.
@martindormer2116

@biggest23
@biggest23 Жыл бұрын
@@martindormer2116 ….It doesn’t matter if there’s ten defenders wrists under the ball, as that’s not what defines a ball being held up. A ball is only held up if the defender’s actions stop the ball touching the grass, while in the attacking players possession. The replay clearly shows the ball touching the grass, meaning it wasn’t held up and it was still in Ardie’s possession. It was demonstrably a try and the same video the TMO watched, clearly shows that. I’m a Saders fan, not Canes and am genuinely fuggin appalled at how outrageously dodgy this is. In my house we replayed and paused it many times to check ourselves and, it’s as clear as clear that it’s a try.

Great game, really competitive, like it should be. So, so hard for Ardie there at the end, could've gone either way had the video been any clearer. But Brumbies deserved it, they were tough, skillful and resolute, and should provide the Chiefs a serious contest next week. Possibly controversial opinion: Roigard and Cameron should be in the wider All Black squad, possibly ahead of Christie and MacKenzie. Roigard's quicker and tougher than Finlay, and Cameron, though he doesn't perhaps provide the highlight reel fodder that MacKenzie or Mo'unga might, is an intelligent game manager and a reliable goalkicker, the kind of strategic 10 that the ABs have missed in the past few seasons. Damian has been a standout in Super Rugby this year but his erratic performances under sustained defensive pressure from the Reds in two ganes and his tendency to run laterally rather than take the ball to the line don't augur well for the international stage. If the Chiefs get over the line in the final it'll be pretty hard to argue with, but if not then an honest appraisal of different players and the qualities they bring to a team, as opposed to their flashy heroics, should be front and centre in the selectors minds.

@@bremCZ ….Mate, replayed it multiple times on big screen, paused it, crowded around screen to see if we were in error….. We weren’t, it’s as clear as a bell, ball touching grass, in Ardies possession. A very dodgy call, that as another commenter noted, has happened a rather large amount at Brumbies home games this season, with the Drua game being the most outrageous one of all.

I really watch Super Rugby just to watch the kiwis/ausies have a go at each other, and the ref, always the ref haha, AND this did not dispoint! Also, here is one to put fuel on the Barbie, what if, the call on that last try was to save the competition instead of just having a NZ tourny with to many warm up games. BRB getting popcorn!

Yes Aussies would most likely be very sore losers and pull out of the competition if it was another all nz semi finals. They're bad winners too

The TMO said “most of the angels that I have don’t have a clear grounding…” you only need one angle with a grounding, which we all saw!…. The most biased officiating in this years super rugby competition came from all the games that were held in Canberra, these officials need to be looked into, same happened in the game against the Drua earlier this year.

That's pretty rich. Canes got away with some pretty shocking clear outs, high tackles and line outs not straight. A few weeks ago an Australian broke their neck and the ref didn't even review it. In the same game a player hit someone off the ball with around the neck.

If Jordy passed it wide would have being a try but the hand under the ball just gave enough doubt and I don't anyone could argue that point to be fair do think we are lucky of having two very good refs in Australia and for the Kiwi's having one good ref and two that are not far off from being good.
