Amazon do a super strong magnet that will lift 30kg that has a loop for attaching string. About £12. As a bricklayer I have been known to drop tools down the cavity!

Pardon my ignorance. Do you have CCTV for the outlet pipes? Only asking as I was a maintenance manager a few years back for a load of plumbers, drainage workers and we'd always employ a CCTV camera after unblocking when trees were nearby to inspect for root damage, then present the findings to the customer so they know they have a problem or potential problem for the future.
