This antenna will out-perform a quarter-wave vertical, and does not require a mass of radials. Great for portable or base operation.

What a pleasant surprise Peter, I'm one of the QSO's in this video, I'm SA6DAZ who was on the beach in Sweden. Thank you again for answering my CQ and you truly were a super signal that day. So much so in fact that it prompted me to seek out a little more information on the radio when I got home. I even wrote the model number down in my notes on the day because the audio was coming through so well, very interesting indeed. Pleasure to talk even though it was brief and thank you for taking the time to make all the video's, they've helped all of us a lot, I only wish I'd recognized your callsign at the time so I could have said thanks in person. 73's from sunny Sweden and it's a delight to be featured on the channel :-)

Hi Darren, great to hear from you. It was a nice coincidence that we were both operating portable. Conditions were quite good that day and it was the first time I had taken the TX500 out for a proper portable test. If you look back a few videos you will se me pouring water over it to prove how water resistant it is. Thank YOU for the QSO and keep safe. 63 Peter.

Excellent video. I have a spare 20m EFHW with 49:1. Thinking of experimenting by running it up 10 m pole I have and then back down again. Thx for all your inspiring videos

Thank you Peter , loved the historical Segway . P-51 Mustang with a Rolls Royce engine were an incredible aircraft. I really like that antenna, I've been playing around building different antennas whilst the weather is nice. I need an RV like what you have. Very interesting radio as well. Thanks for the video! , de Lön N3TGY 73 ..

Very pleasant setting in general, and good point for why 20 and 17 make a good antenna combination. But if that flag is from the airfield museum it should be the one with 48 stars, not 50.

It came from museum as window dressing and not an exhibit. Well spotted. 73 Peter.

Hi Peter, what is the inner diameter of the tube in your tripod ? Did you only have to remove the bottom section of the spider pole ? Looking to buy a similar tripod. Thanks !!

Thank you for the information. I do something similar on my 31ft RV. Works well. Could you give some information on your RV. Maybe a quick look inside. I am wanting to downsize for my wife and me. Thanks, jim Southall, WB4JAB

Hi Peter, I love the vertical EFHW as it's the only antenna I can set up due to small space. Would you think a rotatable dipole is more or just as effective in a urban surroundings? 73
@watersstanton3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the height of the diipole. I would say that on 20m the vertical EFHW would beat a dipole ar say 8m. If the dipole was at 15m then the dipole might just beat it. Peter

Aren’t there any issues (ground losses) if the transformer sits on the ground? People often recommend to put the transformer >2m off the ground
@watersstanton3 жыл бұрын
Well if there are, I have not noticed any. I usually put mine around 0.5 metres above ground. I think the loading of the transformer mitigates any further issues with ground proximity. 73 Peter.
