It’s very difficult for women in India. Parents are still very traditional in their ways and difficult for them to move with the times. Than you have different casts which could also prevent potential spouse to meet up and get to know each other. The only "talk" I had with my parents is when I was in 8th grade my Mom pulled up a diagram on Wikipedia and was like "so, this a uterus." She literally just showed me diagrams of the reproductive systems. She didn't explain anything or tell me how babies are born, or anything like that. Luckily I learned a little bit from school. The time line really matches.
