One of the best examples of DBS Goku being an idiot was when he took Vegeta's words literally "use your head" and headbutted Botamo from Universe 6 and when Goku couldn't tell who's the real Vegeta and the imposter Vegeta in the Copy-Vegeta Saga.

I’ve said this a couple of times now, but in the Super manga, Goku is a lot less dumbed down than how we saw him in the anime. So when the Super anime eventually returns and adapts the Moro and Granolah Sagas, we’ll see a Goku that’s like about 70 or 80% unchanged from how he was seen in Z/Kai.
