I still feel kinda weirded out by how Sora was handled. Like, I get that having Goofy & Donald present would be weird in its own way. Having them present wouldn't do Smash Bros justice, as per Sakurai's "no non-video-game characters" rule, which he brought up 20 years ago when discussing Goldeneye. But having them absent feels like now it doesn't do Kingdom Hearts justice, it makes Sora just another RPG rep which (IMO) is a genre that's getting increasingly overrepresented in the roster.

@@dahomie253 because those aren’t “trifling details”. Theres a lot of people who don’t play RPGs, so when half of the DLC are RPG characters who use swords in a game thats main selling point is that its a crossover about all kinds of games, it is underwhelming to see another character that only appeals to a certain group of people when there are many more genres to take from like FPS and Platformers. And as for the sword argument, it gets kinda bland when every character is just a sword user with a come back mechanic. That being said not every sword fighter is doomed to be bland as I do think Sora and Sephiroth are unique characters because their swords actually function differently and don’t rely on a gimmick, and both were good picks for how iconic they are but JRPG sword fighters aren’t for everyone, and thats 6/11 of the DLC so people are gonna be disappointed.

To think if Sora never got into Smash, the final DLC character’s fanfare for the entire series would’ve been “Kazuya Mishima wins.” (For anyone who hasn’t read, Kazuya would’ve been the final DLC character, but since Sakurai had a chance meeting with a Disney executive at the game awards, he got the go ahead to include Sora, and thus, the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 had an 11th contender instead of 10 like the first volume.)

NGL, I LOVE that they added more themes for the FE characters. I saw characters like Dark Pit have their own theme, and I really wanted Corrin to have Lost In Thoughts All Alone. And then they add Id (Purpose) for Awakening. I was really happy. And now with Byleth playing Edge of Dawn, I'm so happy!
