i seriously watched this video, and tried the move a few hours later and got the tap. so easy to transition from stage one of the guard to this.

"Come on man!" A 1:55 intro is standard operating procedure. Maybe, as a purple belt, the videos can be longer as requested by KZbin if he sits in the car before warmups and walks into class late. Also s.o.p for purple belts. #sarcasm #purplebelt

I don't understand where you apply the pressure. Can he not just turn his head?
@JohnnyJitsu10 ай бұрын
Great question. Turning his head won't help. My forearms are being squeezed together with his neck in the way. So moving his neck sideways will be extremely difficult. My bottom hand is anchored to his Lapel and my top hand is anchored to my own elbow. It's like getting your neck stuck inside a vice. This is a pain tap more than a blood Choke. Hope this helps. 🤙
@robertromig903 жыл бұрын
I've used the same choke, but not when on my side. I was always able to get people off of me and backup to my feet, if I was already on my side. This was mainly used when people tried to slam me, after I had them in half guard on my back. By the time they slammed me, they had already choked themselves out on my arms.

I like it! Why is it called the "Ezekiel" choke though?
@JohnnyJitsu Жыл бұрын
Named after Ezekiel Paraguasu...Judoka.
@JohnnyJitsu Жыл бұрын
They named it after him because he came into a BJJ school...Carlson Gracie's and was catching people with it. The funny thing is that he didn't create it. It's a move that has been taught in Judo well before BJJ was even created.

Lol. Gotta get that snapping of the fingers in. Very chiche'. Jiu-jitsu culture is silly sometimes. People need to understand that the entire teaching method of most (brazilian) jiu-jitsu schools is all about student retention... translation?... that means big MONEY for the jiu-jitsu school owners. It is literally a pyramid scheme. The art of jiu-jitsu is absolutely legit, but the way it has been taught and the belt system is about making money.
@MrStrongBro3 жыл бұрын
I laughed when he snapped his fingers for that very reason. 😂 I’m sure there are some bjj academies out there money hungry and hand belts out, but this Martial art is one of the most slowest to rank in. You can be a white belt for 2 years before you even get a blue belt. If you’re at a legit place, it can take up to 10 years just to reach black belt. It should be based on skill level and not attendance.
@tribunation3 жыл бұрын
@@MrStrongBro Just got my black belt last Monday. Just under 13 years.👍
@tribunation3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyJitsu Well of course you don't rush promotions. 😄 That would mean less money over the long haul. It's all about that student retention. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but I've seen BJJ gym turn into little cults.
@tribunation3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyJitsu I dont know about crossfit cults, but I do know that some smaller time bjj instructors/profs get a taste of that good money coming in, adoration from their students, and then their heads start to explode and then they start using a one way psuedo loyalty guilt trip on their students.
