I own the first generation. I don't see any relevant improvements from ultralight hikers. - charging speed/input still 18Watt - pass through charging only 10watts So if you stop to fully charge your phone and powerbank it will still take 4h only for the powerbank. So I will keep going with the gen1.

Agree with the other posters. Nitecore, if you're listening, your power banks were incredibly popular for years because of really excellent power to weight characteristics. It is now 2024. The bar has been raised. Rise with it. People weren't buying them just necause carbon fiber is cool. If you keep releasing the same bank and acting like it's an upgrade while anker and others change the game, you're going to get left behind. I like the rubber corners but I'm gonna stick with my gen1. I have a splitter cable that is usb a to 4 usb c that i use to charge my watch, garmin, headlamp, and other small devices while the 18w C charges my phone. I prefer that configuration for now. If i find a c to 4 c splitter, i would consider the new one. But I'm still disappointed by the lack of innovation.

I’m pretty good at finding rare tech items on AliExpress, like specialized cables, but it seems that a 'USB-C to 4x USB-C' cable doesn't exist. I haven't even found a 'USB-C to 3x or 2x USB-C' option. The closest solution would be to use a 'USB-A 3.1 to 4x USB-C' cable and add a USB-A to USB-C OTG adapter. Interestingly, because the power is split across four connections, there wouldn’t be much difference in the wattage delivered through an OTG adapter on a 'USB-A 3.1 to 4x USB-C' cable compared to a hypothetical 'USB-C to 4x USB-C' cable, especially when powering devices from a power bank rather than an AC power brick.
@commentsonthetube142 ай бұрын
@@Funkteon yeah, it's just extra weight and hassle and no real need for it. I think I found a longer c to 3xC a while back and it works fine but I really like the short A to 4xC for camping and travel due to lack of bulk.

Rated Energy is decreased from gen 2 ?
@kendrick02103 ай бұрын
The lower rated energy in GEN3 could be because it’s measured at a higher current draw (2A), leading to more energy loss due to heat and internal resistance. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a downgrade from the previous generation.

You need to make a high wattage laptop centric version. 10000 would charge my MacBook Air at least once.
@Yigitcanakkas3 ай бұрын
Your macbook air, if small, has a 54wh battery, if big has a 74wh battery, a 10000mah powerbank is 37whs and with best efficiency would give out around 28whs max, which would charge your small macbook air maybe half if turned off.

18w charging input…that’s complete garbage when tiny 30w chargers have been out for years now. Get with the program Nitecore.
@Let_there_be_flashlight2 ай бұрын
Using a higher-power charger results in faster charging, but it also causes the battery to get hotter and reduces its overall lifespan. This is the same reason that most iPhones will regulate their input to be below 20W even when you connect a 30W charging block to them.
@Davis2001r62 ай бұрын
@@Let_there_be_flashlight The main market for this power bank is backpackers looking for the lightest option to keep there base weight low and being able to get in and out of towns quickly. Have to stay in town for 2 hours vs 1 hour is a huge difference. I would trade a marginal decrease is lifespan if it meant I could get in and out of towns quickly. For the price point this is marketed at there is no point in paying 2-4 times the zcost for a slower charge in order to save an ounce.
