I know mawlid is an innovation but how do you explain this authentic hadith. And how do you act upon it. Sufis throw this at me and I can't respond. Narrated that Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri RA said: “Mu’awiyah, (may Allah be pleased with him,) said: ‘The Messenger of Allah [SWS] went out to a circle - meaning, of his Companions - and said: ‘What are you doing?’ They said: ‘We have come together to pray to Allah and praise Him for guiding us to His religion, and blessing us with you.’ He said: ‘I ask you, by Allah, is that the only reason?’ They said: ‘By Allah, we have not come together for any other reason.’ He said: ‘I am not asking you to swear to an oath because of any suspicion; rather Jibril came to me and told me that Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, is boasting of you to the angels.'” Sunan Nasa’i (Sunan an-Nasa’i 5426 - Eng:Vol. 6, Book 49, Hadith 5428 / Book 49, Hadith 48) •

Mawlid in our place is very different, no dancing stuff, just poetry read about our beloved prophet SAW, some duas and Quran reciting and then all community has a meal together

But as the shaykh said there’s no mention of it in the Quran or sunnah, from the companions or from the two generations that succeeded them. This is just improvising in religious practices

Those who remember Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon. Allah and his Rasul Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him will be pleased with them. Mawlid is not dancing, but rather being joyous and remembering the legacy of the best of creation.

It is a bid`a (innovation in the religion ) It was innovated by the Fatimides Shia and spread by the sufis, In Islam we have 2 eids, Eid is a festival that reoccurs every year. The Prophet said "..The truest word is the Book of Allah and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The most evil matters in religion are those that are newly invented, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation. Every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire.” Muslim, no. 867

4 schools of thought, they never celebrated it , Imam Abu Hanifa ra, imam Shafi ra, Imam Malik ra Imam Ahmed ra Imam Yusuf ra Imam Bukhari ra never celebrated mawlid !! So, how u said 4 school of thought celebrate it!!!! We follow Quran and Sunnah with understanding of these great imam (of salaf) . The Abdul Qadir Jeelani ra never celebrated it! This was invented by Shia after 600 Year of Hijrah ( may be shia or a sect from Egypt) They want to celebrate the death not birth, then slowly this was adapted by people!
