The nice thing about land yacht body on frame trucks is that they're both very tough and usually much easier to fix than unibody vehicles. Plus rust free vintage used parts are readily available locally in the left coast. Even if "totalled" the odds are good the truck was fixed and the owner pocketed a profit. I'm a GM guy but Jesus Christ if those OBS Fords weren't great looking both inside and out. I'd love to have an F-250 or F-350 with the 7.3 IDI, a stick shift, and manual transfer case. Those nonturbo mechanical diesel engines weren't powerful and sounded like a bag of gravel being rolled down a hill, but the fact that they were used in every school bus in the 80's and 90's and most of those buses are still rolling the same old bag of gravel around on a bumfuck nowhere single lane road near you either still in service transporting kids to the barely educational kid jail or as Billy Joe Jim Bob's neighbor's cousin's brother's uncle's RV conversion says quite a bit about their reliability.

I do not believe you are correct. Not in one’s home at least. While traveling firearms must be in a locked container or in the trunk of the car. You cannot use the glovebox or center console and you cannot transport a loaded firearm.

If you have children in the home then you must lock the firearm up. We are having this discussion because you said the owner of the stolen firearm may get in trouble too. The owner of the firearm has no legal obligation to lock his firearm in his home (given there’s no children present) so it being stolen by a adult would not land him in any legal trouble. If I am incorrect and missing something please give me the statute so I can read it.
