@erasmusomnius
@erasmusomnius 5 жыл бұрын
@@mygreneyhyportnex4182 You're right, I did forget him. And your reminder will prompt me to research his playing more than I actually have. I must say, I LOVED Canned Heat back in the day. Saw them live Aug '68, and several more times in the early '70's. Heard them on underground radio, even in '67-68 in San Diego. They were SOOOO POWERFUL live when I saw them. I never really got blown away by the Blind Owl, he just never caught my attention that much. But again, thanks for the heads up, you obviously know your blues stuff, and I intend to go back and try to listen. I know the mighty John Mayall liked those guys a lot, and I consider myself a fan of the Heat. (I guess I should have mentioned John Mayall's slide playing also.). I'm sure I probably left out a few others also. Not my intention. Just listing my loves. Admittedly, unashamedly biased toward electric late '60s to early '70's.

This music still stands up today.What a band.The original,and best incarnation of the Mac,with Peter,Jeremy Spencer,and Danny Kirwin.And Then Play On is one of the best albums of the 60's.Peter,Jeremy,and Danny were all so young,about 25,when the roof caved in on all of them.This band could have lasted forever.

Loved this lineup of FM. Gotta say this, I once hear George Thorogood say of fans standing around, "your too cool to dance? Me & the girls, we're gonna get it. You can be cool" A lot of the sullen faces sitting or standing off to the side reminded me of George's remarks. When I saw this lineup of FM back about 1969-70, nobody could stand still...shake your money-maker, indeed!!!

I believe that is Danny Kirwan on the far right. From what I have read, it seems unlikely that Danny Kirwan would be able to rejoin the others, even if Peter Green was up for a reunion - which I don't believe he is. It was a wonderful band while it lasted though. I am just grateful for the footage we have of them as young men!

Lord Maynard is correct. On 31 Dec 1968 FM were half way through their second US tour (early Dec '68 - mid-Feb '69). This 4-hour show (called Surprise Partie) was recorded on 27 Nov '68. Other groups who appeared in Paris were the Who, the Small Faces, Aphrodite's Child, PP Arnold, the Troggs & the Equals plus numerous French groups & artists. The show also featured separate inserts by Joe Cocker, Pink Floyd and Booker T & the MGs.
