Have you ever had a puzzle where R U Ri Ui didn't work? I think perhaps heavily jumbling and bandaging puzzles might not work as reliably with it.

That's true, then you have to find another set of moves. Usually this involves doing R2 instead of R. Here is an example of how to use the same principal on a brick cuboid where you can't do R U Ri Ui: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZWQpKdugrx-msk
