@@carkod What do you expect the ball boy to do? Run out into the middle of court, fall to the floor, throw their fist into the air and yell, "Curses! Curses to me, for I have forsaken my duty as a ball boy! This game was pure, and now it has been tainted! History has been rewritten by my ineptitude, and we may never go back! Forgive me!" Ball boys are supposed to do their job and stay disciplined. They made a mistake, and they know it, but there is nothing for them to say or do. It is not their place to join the discussion.

@ZantierTasa No, I'd expect him to at least think "oh shit! I fucked up!!" and drop the ball and put his hands on his head or do some kind of gesture. This is a reaction, what you say is a complete exaggeration. We all know children are more emotional, it's harder to control emotions when you are a kid than when you are an adult, no way a kid his age can stay displined like adults do. so I think he (or she) didn't even know that was a mistake. I'd also expect somebody to actually tell him or her about the mistake and like other commenters said, maybe escort the ball boy out and replace him with another. I actually don't think he deserves to be fired, but definitely retrained. This is what you do with children, you correct mistakes and then they do it again. If you ever dealt with children you know they probably make more mistakes than adults, that's. why you'd hire an adult for jobs and not a child.

@@brogramy100% that ball was going to bounce out. So the ball boy / girl acted on instinct and caught it knowing it was going out. However, as the umpire states as the ball had not 'technically' bounced out it was still in play. That is why players always let balls bounce if it is close to the line just in case it bounces out.

@@michaelteinert6745no YOU have no idea. He trained for years to get that point. He played fair and by the rules and because the ball boy interfered his opponent gets the point. I don't know that anyone can hold their anger like he did but if it were me cursed words will be flying all over the place. I'd be like Me: what the f*ck was that? Why are you giving him the point he clearly hit outside. Ref: the rules said it has to bounce to... Me: what the f*ck are you talking about? Look at me did I touch it? Did I kick it? NO!!! It's YOUR F*CKING BALL BOY THAT DID!!! Opponent concedes point Me:NO you don't concede anything!!! Your not my f*cking santa clause giving me something free!!! It's my point to begin with...

Match between kovacevic and kachanov the ball boy catch the ball which hit by kovavevic before bouncing but it is clear the ball is away but because of ball boy catch before bouncing kovacevic was awarded the point is this correct decision No, if the ball boy catches the ball before it bounces, and it's clear the ball was actually out, the correct decision would be to correct the error. Kovacevic should not be awarded the point in this situation. The chair umpire or officials should intervene, acknowledge the mistake, and replay the point or award it appropriately to Kachanov based on the correct call. Fairness and accuracy are essential in tennis officiating.

So you could pay the ball boy to always catch your lost balls before touching and you cant lose anymore... The rules are just stupid, if the ball is clearly out, and the boy catches it, it should not be replayed. If it is a close call, then yes, but not if it's clearly out
