I recently purchased this knife for Bushcrafting. It's a great knife. It's a little lighter than what I would like, but it's a solid knife. It's a perfect size. Tops makes great knives. In particular, I really like the sheath. It rides nicely on my hip, with the dangler design. It also has a holder for a Ferrocium Rod, which it comes with. You can't go wrong with this knife.

Tops makes some good cutlery. This 4.5 Baja is a perfect example. Thanks for sharing this video. Good job!! > 🙂

What's the point of a bow drill hole on both sides?
@Bladeunion5716 Жыл бұрын
I believe since the hole is not right in the center that they intend for it to be used in a certain direction. They put one on each side so that it can be ambidextrous.

Do the handles have some kind of metal liners there?
@Bladeunion5716 Жыл бұрын
I believe they are some sort of synthetic material like g10 perhaps.

I’ve never been a fan of tops the ones I tried were ground like a ax. This is the first one that doesn’t look ridiculous. I just don’t trust their quality control. Especially with the prices they charge. I’d like to see it actually cut something.

This one has a good grind on it. You may be in luck as I might actually purchase this one! If I do I'll put it through its paces. I have no doubt it will hold up. Thanks for watching!

Definitely not a fan of jimping. I personally had one of my knives break right where the jimping was. Also, DBK had one of their knives break at the jimping. Of course, they were batoning a small knife. So was I. But still it now makes me a bit weary of jimping.
@Bladeunion5716 Жыл бұрын
Yes any square angle cuts like a 90° for example can create a weak spot. If they are rounded they are stronger but you can only expect a small knife to do so much before it had the potential to fail. Heat treat and steel also play a huge role. I really prefer blades in the 5 inch range that are over 1/8 in thickness for harder use. I've only had a couple blades fail and they didn't even have jimping oddly enough, but I would attribute that to bad heat treat and hitting knots while splitting wood. Thanks for watching.

Tops is a horrible company. Quality control and customer service are pure trash. I wish i could post the emails. Ive had mine two months and its already rusting through the coating, i havent even cut anything yet! And the stamp on the ferro rod was completely crooked. I wish i could post the pictures…
@adods98249 ай бұрын
It's carbon steel. Light oiling is essential. 2 months for light 'rust' sounds about right ...
