I love how people bash Mike Matei when the thing is, AVGN wouldn't even be where he is now if it wasn't for him. It's easy to hate on him now because he "talks too much" and "does too many of his own videos" but Mike put a shit ton of work into the earlier years of Angry Video Game Nerd in regards to helping James film the episodes, edit them, he did pretty much all the artwork and title cards in the beginning, and he was always there to play the secondary characters that James needed even as early on as the Friday the 13th video. Hate the man if you absolutely must, but give him the fucking respect he deserves, you tools.

You know what's funny? As much as they hate David Cage and everything he does, guess what? They're still talking about him. At the end of the day, they probably talk about David Cage and his games more than they do anything else. So is David Cage and Beyond really a failure when they both get so much time in Matt and Pat's spotlight? They're literally giving David Cage free advertising and free press left and right - even if it's bad press. Sometimes, that can be even better than good press, believe it or not. Maybe, if Matt and Pat really want Cage to stop making games, they should stop talking about him entirely. Or maybe, they DON'T want him to stop making games and in some way, they actually enjoy his games, even if it's just to punish themselves, like you said. If you ask me, it seems like David Cage has done a masterful job of trolling our beloved Matt and Pat and they simply don't realize it. Just my two cents.

The Best Friends are so full of contradictions! They claim that when you die in this game, it's totally your fault, but then say the tagline for this game is "That's not fair!" I've seen quite a few videos on this game, and I can tell you that it's entirely unfair on purpose, and the only way deaths are your fault is if you're not a beginner.

If the stage Bang is talking about is Future Fuckballs 2010, that's a track endorsed by three different KZbin gaming personalities (four, if you won't let me count Matt and Pat together as a "personality").

Nagittchi Did you play it? It's super-difficult but really fun, some really ace precision with the jumping and the shooting is super-satisfying.

Nagittchi It's not, though. Even though it's got shout-outs to shitty design none of it is actually shitty. Shitty rock attack that arcs over everything? It's a dumb bonus pickup you don't have to (and won't) use over the good, default attack. Silver surfer level? You can touch the walls and still take 3 hits. Even the total joke ladder-to-death-pit in the fantasy level gives you PLENTY enough time to see the room before you fall off the bottom of the ladder, unlike the source game which just dropped you the second the screen scrolled down, and it's at the absolute start of the level 2 seconds after a checkpoint just in case your reactions are shit to boot. The devs are clearly fans of Egoraptor because they took his Megaman Sequelitis video to heart, there's not a single trap, mechanic or enemy that isn't first introduced in an easy, observable setting before it starts throwing crazy-hard combinations at you. See: Megaman platforms. First group is above platforms, second is above death-blocks. tl;dr: despite all the shout-outs to shit design it actually subverts it almost every time.

Between this and Volgarr (and maybe Shovel Knight also?), I'm glad to see this hard game revival in the indie scene lately. Seems like devs are mashing old and new elements to make things look difficult but fair, less frustrating, but still challenging. I'm pretty sure Dark Souls had something to do with it...

The first level of Volgarr became ridiculously easy because I kept dying and mastered the patterns of the enemies and there's no save point so if you quit you have to do the entire game again but then I got to the second level...fuck that I gave up, it's way too hard for me.
