Oh I know he’s not going to know right away, and we know what his initial assumption is. But it would be fun if like, Crookshanks somehow tells him, or he hears whispers. We know he watches the Quidditch games, maybe he’ll notice Ron at the Hufflepuff seats. It would be a lot easier if Ron was on the Hufflepuff team but, we haven’t seen him there yet.

I month ago lost two friends in small crowd during local festival when I went 5m to the bin and had to call them because I couldn't see them. There is very little chance that he would saw him. @@Just_a-guy True, but I imagine Crookshanks could communicate another way. Like, bringing him passwords for the Hufflepuff dormitory, or a little trinket with the Hufflepuff badger on it. Something I didn’t think about is that this also might change Crookshanks constant attempts to grab Scabbers/Peter since they aren’t in the same dorm. Peter might not be as nervous this year without the cat breathing down his neck.

Another what if idea I've seen thrown around. What if Harry had Lily's physical traits. Red hair, still the same eyes, maybe no glasses. He would likely be mistaken for Weasley often. Would Snape still have animosity because of his father or can't help seeing Lilly each time? Would Petunia have a similar reaction? Would the latter affect his life at the Dursleys? Would Snape be nicer to Harry? I imagine much of everything else stays the same, but would those small changes also change things in the story?

In case i forget, just a thought about if there's ever a "what if everyone was in different houses" deep dive, I'm thinking about McGonagall and her role with Harry and how she'd feel while not being nearly as attached with any of the trio being in her house. It's Neville. McGonagall notices Neville is a friend to potter and takes to questioning him about Harry occasionally, but in doing so she gets to know Neville as well. She sees how strong a wizard he is early on and strives to prove Neville's grandmother wrong. She spots the out of place wand early and has it replaced, she tutors Neville personally in occasion, and she gives him the encouragement he needs. She decides that if Neville chooses to stand bedside Harry, she will make him the best knight he can be. And u think this would be prompted by the rememberall incident, as McGonagall would likely talk to Neville after this incident as well and she would hear Neville praising Harry for his courage to stand up to someone in his own house for an outsider

Yeah, and it's weird too, cuz there's no universe where Ron would ever be lonely. He's funny, witty, and easygoing, and while he may not be Mr. Popular like Fred and George, not once did he ever struggle with his social life in the books. Even when he was at odds with Harry or Hermione, he still had other people to hang out with, and they seemed to feel his absence more than he felt their's.

Personally, I think it's magical languages and prophecies. Since Harry Potter stuff revolves around the number 7, I think it’d be cool to have a Harry Potter “numbers that aren’t seven” quiz where all of the answers are numbers that don’t have a 7 in them. Everything from “Which platform at Kings Cross does the Hogwarts express leave from?” to “How many knuts did Fred and George wager at the World Cup?” to “How many classes did Hermione take in their 3rd year?” or even more obscure things like “What year did such-and-such goblin rebellion take place?” Questions about dates, street numbers, ages, bank vaults, and anything else would be fair game, as long as the answer is a number that doesn’t have a 7 in it. I don't believe the Weasleys would have behaved like that to Harry vs Ron if they had adopted Harry. They would have treated him as equal, so, first he would have been "another Weasley" in terms of his world view and knowledge; second, he would have been punished the same way as Ron. On the other hand, he would have known about his real family for sure, but this would have been just a fact from history - it wouldn't have had that emotional value. Overall, I think it would've pushed Harry to learn everything about that period and really prepare for his imminent encounter with the Death Eaters (who he would have known much more about). He would have studied really well - especially all sorts of combat magic (including from his brothers). And I think he would have been really close with F&G, who would have become part of their gang. And, seriously, I would consider just putting all those guys in different houses: a usual choice would be, Harry - to Slytherin, Hermie - to Ravenclaw, Ron - to Hufflepuff, and Nevill - to Gryffindor. But I would conseder putting Ron to Ravenclaw, and Hermie - to Hufflepuff. I believe that Ravenclaw is not really about academic success, but rather creativity. Ron is far more creative than Hermie, and is not really much less clever (just he doesn't want to study). I believe he would have been a very good Ravenclaw. Hermie is, on the other hand, sometimes too loyal, too thoughtful even for Gryffindor.

I think,in this case,Ron is blamed because it was his idea. Ron is also kinda the forgotten brother anyway (mum forgets which sandwiches he hates,which colour he hates,he has to wear his aunt's dress robes) so I imagine it's more of that coming through. I'd also imagine it's hard to get angry at an orphan in the same way you'd be angry at your biological son

Molly was not a fool, she knew how to deal with kids, and it's really bad to show favouritism to any of your children - especially if one of them is supposed to be the greatest weapon against You-Know-Who. She would have gone out of her way to mold his character - even if she had to be strict with him. As it is in the books, she was just a friend's mom, and Harry was with the Dursleys, he was completely deprived of affection and emotional care, so she was there to provide it. If he had been grown by her, it would have been another matter.

Remember, we have "good" as in not evil Slytherins and evil, coward and fearful Griffindors (as in Wormtail), so the core traits are basically just those, usual traits, but not for everyone in the House. Remember, when Hufflepuffs were resentment and jealous of Harry in year 4 when he was chose as champion as well? But in the end they come true as hard working, loyal hufflepuffs, no matter how they acted as a 12-13 years old children, as I'm sure Ron also will by the end.

@@krypto051 Sure, there may be a couple of rotten eggs in every dozen, but, from what we've seen the sorting hat gets it right more often than not. Yes, the Hufflepuffs were resentful of Harry but so were the other houses because they thought he cheated to get his name to come out of the goblet, and that he was taking the attention away from their rightful champion. Under those circumstances, their resentment is understandable but that's not who they were in general, as depicted by Cedric. In this theory Ron is constantly showing characteristics that are anathema to what Hufflepuff represents and that's why I don't think the hat would have put him in that house despite his request.

It just occurred to me that if Ron ends up in Hufflepuff Griffindor won’t win the house cup in the Philosopher Stone, because Neville replaces Ron to face Voldemort which means Neville is awarded Ron’s points and since no one stood up to stop Harry the points Neville normally gets doesn’t exist, which gives Slytherin another win. Unless Dumbledore awards Neville an extra 10 points just so Griffindor wins, but if that happens I think Ron would feel more in the shadows because Harry’s action just won Griffindor and the rest of the Weasleys the house cup, and Griffindor winning the cup would be talked about all summer at the burrow.

I dont like idea of Ron in Hufflepuff. If you want to draw some connection to other houses then go with Neville and golden square but yellow badgers are about hardworking (i wouldnt say that Ron fits this) and loyalty (two times he in the series abandon Harry so...), on the other hand Neville got his point in book one for exactly this, making hard decision and standing up to his friends but in good intend and in book 5 we saw how hard he trained. And Ron is pure lion, from standing up to the troll, to yelling at Hermione for being too scared with devil's snare to bravely risking his own life in game of chess, standing up with broken leg to murderer and many more (you can argue that this is to protect his friends but here it sounds more to me like bravery than loyalty) . Also iIRC Neville ASKED HAT TO BE IN hUFFLEPUFF and it said "nope, you are too brave not to be in house of the Door".........

This is another great video. I really love your “what if” scenarios. But I have a question about a part that you worked through relatively quickly: In the real story, Ginny panics because she told the diary about her feelings towards Harry. She can barely talk to Harry because she's so upset when he's in a room with her. But in the new story, they've known each other forever. The relationship would be completely different, wouldn't it? Just like you described at the beginning of the first part. Then you could assume that Ginny has written about other things. And on the other hand, that she has a sibling relationship with Harry and at least doesn't react with such panic when he finds the book, since she hasn't written about HIM. What do you think?

If I may offer a humble suggestion as a long-time fan, I suggest this series be called "What if Dumbledore Sent Harry was to the Weasleys?" because a) it would grab more attention and b) it's more honestly where a lot of this seems to develop from anyway. I love it and it's awesome that placing Ron in Hufflepuff is where the idea came from, to be clear.

Hullo Brothers, I have enjoyed watching all of the alternative versions of the stories. However this Ron tangent is not your strongest work. I am going to keep watching as I am a supporter of the channel! I am just not sure if this alternative story line is an interesting idea. I'm quite challenged with this one. I know Harry has never exactly been very in tune with social cues, he's a bit oblivious at times, but this whole story hinges on Harry being completely unaware of the turmoil that his adopted brother is going through. That, or uncaring, which doesn't make sense as Harry has no ill will towards Ron in this alternate universe. I can't see a world in which Harry doesn't go out of his way to involve and stick up for Ron. He's not going to let Ron take exclusive blame for the car. He's not going to allow the rest of the Weasleys to believe for one second that he's the hero while Ron was an also-there. Harry is defined by selflessness, in any universe, and Ron is fiercely loyal to the core. Ron has severe issues with feelings of inadequacy, but I'm just not following this one. I hate to say it, but it's feeling like another excuse to push "Hairmione" while Ron becomes an even more petty version of movie-Ron.

I really don't like how this story amplifies Ron's feelings of jealousy and insecurity when there's really not much of a reason for it. I frankly don't really buy any of it and it feels like it's reaching very silly near bashing levels.

Yes Hermione in Ravenclaw would be cool too, although it would be odd because the Ravenclaws don’t have a lot of classes with the Gryffindors but I think there’d be ways around that in which they still become friends. Another interesting thought is what if Draco was in slytherin, I wonder what his and Harry’s relationship would be because it would be very different and I’d also like to compare it to how their relationship developed in the what if Harry was in slytherin series.

Could you eventually do "What If Ginny was sorted into Slytherin?" I think I've come up with a way she can get sorted into Slytherin: Charlie catches her sneaking into the quidditch supply which makes him train her and it fuels her ambition to be a professional quidditch player, so she's even more determined and ambitious so she gets sorted into Slytherin.
