Salazar’s mindset makes a lot of sense when you see what people in our real world did to those accused of witchcraft. He was doing what he thought would protect his people from a group that would most likely Stone and burn all of them alive.

And the basilisk could have just been a weapon in case muggles ever came looking for a fight (I would think twice about causing trouble if a basilisk came after me). The legends were just twisted into making him look more evil than he really was by modern purebloods looking to justify their hatred.

@@endersdragon34 This is honestly my preferred belief. I doubt he cared nearly as much about blood purity as he did about talent, cunning, and ambition. I also just love the idea that the reason the basilisk attacks Harry is because either Voldemort tricked it into thinking he was a false heir or something similar, or something went wrong in the millennia of isolation and the basilisk went mad, which is why all it wants to do is kill.

Yup it makes more sense for the founders to have this mindset and while we know they aren't all bad it makes less sense for them to trust muggles but muggleborns were in much more immediate danger of the aggression of the muggles so it makes no sense for Salazar to not try and protect them as well I think it wasn't the Muggle hatred that drove the founders apart it was Salazar's hatred towards those that were in the most danger that caused the rift

I've always wondered why they didn't use the chamber of secrets to host the DA training sessions. It seems a bit more secure then the room of requirements as only Harry could open it.

I think because the entrance to the Room of Requirement moved around and thus Umbridge couldn't quite pin them down. If they used the Chamber, eventually the Inquisitiorial Squad would have figured it out and ambushed them in the bathroom

@@timwatz2330 I'm pretty sure none of this was deliberate. ASOIF's clues are deliberate. Martin uses word choice and literary simmetry to let us know what is happening. JK wrote a series of amazing books, but those books are filled with plot holes. She created the stories and the world as she was writing the books. So it's all pretty convenient. Things are created as she needs them and than she sometimes doesn't uses them cause it would ruin tension and conflict. That's what a messy worldbuilding does to your story. Plot holes. But what I said was that I unfortunately think she wouldn't like a video with someone exposing all her mistakes. She has quite the ego. And she's not quite the nice person, is she? She's a bigot. And not the discrete type. This kind of person doesn't take criticism well. Recent events shown that she doesn't too. Sad, but truth.

This made me think of something, when Hermione uses her time-turner in the 3rd book many people have pointed out that she must be at least a few months older than she was before. But if you think about it, in the second book, she is petrified for about half of the year and does not age during that time so therefore, she probably is about the same age that she was originally. I know this is not a huge dicovery but this video made me think about it. Love your videos! ❤️❤️❤️

1:48 I always assumed that Slytherin named the Chamber such because it was designed to preserve the SECRETS of performing magic only within those families he deemed worthy to learn those secrets.

Possible theory additions: Slytherin has likely been brought back multiple times. The basilisk was obviously tame, and several generations of his heirs were capable of what the Gaunts could do. The Gaunts were just the last of his line, not the only ones to ever exist. He was probably brought out of petrification multiple times. He may have BEEN the guy who designed horcruxes, and bred basilisks. In fact, why petrification? It's entirely possible that he's acquired elixer of life, as he lived for several centuries in the same world as nicholas flamel, and it is NEVER stated that he kept the potion entirely to himself. He may have designed horcruxes, as I said, and now lives his immortal half-life in the chamber, with so many more secrets. We only ever truly see the entrance of the chamber. As you said, it's very, very unexplored. The great horde of knowledge of the most secretive of the founders. Potion recipees, dozens of basilisks, etc, etc. So much could be down there that just never gets revealed. How do we know that's the only basilisk? How do we know he doesn't have tons of them deeper inside, and only sends one when his heirs come calling. Perhaps sending the oldest one out to patrol the sewer systems. How do we know there's not a fortune down there, hundreds of magical artifacts, and so many forbidden spells of every type? We don't. We've literally only ever seen the entrance. For all we know, Slytherin isn't waiting for his one true heir to bring him back. He's waiting for his one true heir to find him, and be worthy of learning all he has to teach, someone young and spry who can journey out into the world, and teach this muddied wizard society the wrath of a true pureblood wizarding master.

I think that Salazar is petrified after he failed an attempt at making the basilisk a horcrux of his, then, Tom Riddle moved him somewhere hidden in the Chamber to preserve him and voldemort was not wanting invincibility for himself but, in fact, Salazar Slytherin.

Heres my theory on your theory When Tom Riddle first came to Hogwarts he didnt necessarily hate muggles. He was just a confused boy. But, When he started hearing voices through the walls when was a student which directed him to the chamber, he found Slytherin. If he were to save him from petrification, Slytherin could have been Palpatine style controlling his vader from behind the walls Maybe Slytherin died afterwards, but he would have had the time to fully explain ti riddle who he was and what his purpose may have been As a confused little sociopath, I could totally see him clinging to Slytherin as his master, and when he died Tom's purpose was to carry out Slytherin's vision and that I think could really explain a lot Like, how did riddle become evil? His parents weren’t really in love. His father was under a potion of love, so when Merope (Tom’s mother) finished giving him the potion, Tom’s father run away from them (she thought he was finally in love with her). Eventually, Merope dies and Tom was just alone, if I remember correctly, so when he was old enough, he killed his grandparents and then his father for leaving his mother. Tom obviously hated the fact that he was a mudblood, so he started hating his non-pure part, and wanting to be a perfect person for himself, thinking that he would have been the best wizard in the world. He just wanted power, he wanted to feel like the most important, even by purebloods: if you think about that, not every death eaters were purebloods. He actually just wanted powerful people (like Lily Evans, but she didn’t wanted to so he killed her)

I've always thought that Slytherins "one true heir" litteraly could have been any of his direct decendents! In my opinion it is implied many times that basilisks can be controlled simply with parseltongue, however it is stated by diary Tom riddle that the basilisk will only listen to "the heir of Slytherin" and even then would (I think) only follow orders that relate to the original mandate set down by Slytherin "remove all muggle tainted blood from Hogwarts" Why? ... This dosnt make sense, it also doesn't make sense that this free minded and relatively intelligent dark creature would stay in waiting for a thousand years just because it was told to, It's also odd that just after tom finds/starts using the chamber he starts reserching his first horcrux I think Salazar Slytherin left a part of himself in that chamber, I think he made his basilisk a horcrux! I think he intended to resurrect himself through one of his descendants making that descendant the "one true heir of Slytherin" litteraly inheriting his soul Maybe tom was stronger than expected and defeated Slytherin, I like to think Slytherin wasn't quite strong enough to take over tom but was always there wisppering in the back of his mind eventually together becoming Voldemort

Your animagus can be magical because your Patronus is your animagus, and Dumbledore has the Phoenix as his. Therefore, if Slytherin's Patronus was a basilisk, then as an advanced wizard, he could have become an animagus as a basilisk.

I'm a long time player of D&D and when I heard the movie was called The Chamber of Secrets it made me think of a large chamber full of books and scrolls. With tables to do experiments and make potions some cooking pits with cauldrons above them and a number of chests with all sorts of ancient magical items. Instead, it is just a big chamber with a big snake and some tunnels leading to different parts of the school. For whatever reason, no one explored the chamber and tunnels to see if there were any other rooms.

i just realized that Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Ravenclaw are the three primary colors: yellow, red, and blue. and Slytherin is green. not a primary color. and strangely enough, he is the odd one out of the group.

I would find a story of him searching his whole life for a solution, only to die before finding one, a much more compelling story. But knowing now that his familial legacy is over, I find it really funny that he could potentially be down there forever, never found. Never revived. I am juat imagining ol' Slytherin thinking it was a perfect plan because he was so powerful that surely his heir would want him brought back, only he hid himself well enough that he was either never found or completely rejected. That is so funny to me. My problem with it is, why wouldn't there be some legend about him coming back to Hogwarts? If my grandpa disappeared one day, especially with a cocky attitude and a plan, I would pass that story around like a bag of m&m's. Surely someone would have known something or noticed that he was bwing a bit suss and would have made a note of that?

"Petrify" literally means "turn to stone". However, the books as well as the movies (IIRC) depict the condition as simply a total paralytic coma. I don't recall any indication that "petrified" people wouldn't age, or would have no need for nutrition. If they did, then this plan couldn't possibly work, and Slytherin would be long dead regardless. Even if the body doesn't age and doesn't need nutrition, but is still flesh rather than stone, what's to stop rats, worms, maggots, and other vermin from nibbling on the immobile body incapable of defending itself or even moving? Especially for 1000 years? Slytherin may have been as bad at making plans as Voldemort. But Hermione and Collin and Mrs. Norris could still live, because they were under the care of Madam Pomfrey, who can presumably keep their living bodies maintained by magical means until they can be unpetrified. If your theory is correct, then it could also be that all four of the founders are still alive - not necessarily by the same means.
