Just saying, considering Loki is an Asgardian the more favorable colloquialism of "half an hour" might be 1) more of an Earth thing, and 2) a more modern way to say 30 minutes. Personally I think him saying thirty minutes instead of half an hour makes him sound older and more alien which makes sense for his character.

First, notice that the biblical description also tells of the reconstruction of the city. Second, the archeological record of Jericho contains multiple rounds of significant destruction.
