We are at an inflexion point for supercars. Manual gearboxes, naturally aspirated engines, the new Bugatti being slower than the previous one... EVs have made performance numbers irrelevant, so the arms race seems to finally be coming to an end, and the manufacturers can go back to making actually interesting stuff. Even some of the EVs are interesting in their own right. In a way it's like mechanical watches, rendered obsolete by quartz watches that do the job cheaper and better, so now they've become an ode to engineering and craftsmanship for enthusiasts. I won't ever own a supercar, but I'm excited to drive this current batch in the next Forza video game!
@hovanesmarkaryan8963 ай бұрын
How can “supercars” be super if performance is no longer a priority? Assuming EVs are not interesting because they don’t make loud sounds is funny. Is a 4 cylinder Toyota fascinating to you?
@Zanpaa3 ай бұрын
@@hovanesmarkaryan896 are you intentionally missing my point, or just a bit dense? surely you can't have missed the part where i said some EVs are interesting. and you're making some crazy assumptions there.
@hovanesmarkaryan8963 ай бұрын
@@Zanpaa You say “some EVs” as if all gas cars are interesting, also comparing to watches is wrong because watches are obsolete in the modern world. There will come a day when the majority of sports car enthusiasts accept EVs just like they did with automatics vs manual

@@hovanesmarkaryan896 Judging by how many people are fawning over the GR Yaris and GR86, I'd say yes. 4 (or 3) cylinder Toyotas are very fascinating
@MarcosM-fj6mn3 ай бұрын
@@hovanesmarkaryan896 Top performance is always a priority, what is no longer interesting is the numbers battle. In the new Bugatti the V16 sound a feel are going to be much important than the raw power of the old W16. The new model it's slower but still ridiculously fast, and at the same time it will be more nice and fun to drive.

Living in a part of the world where there are plenty of Chinese cars on the road, they are generally very well made vehicles (EVs and ICU cars). China's BYD EVs now out sell Tesla worldwide and (for sure) they're better made than a Tesla. People said similar things when Japanese cars appeared in Europe in the 60s and 70s (and the Japanese haven't done too badly since). The fact is that in that in Asia/the Far East (Japan, Korea, and China) they make better cars than the Europeans and Americans do.
