The one year we had a decent points system we get an incredible championship fight and then its gone after one year.

I agree, as harsh as this point system was it kept everyone close and forced people to perform well and not make mistakes by having to finish in the Top 15 to score. The 2006 points system worked well too but rewarded mediocrity too much but at least it was better than the horrible 2003-2005 points system. The points system since 2008 rewards cruising and Top 5's way too much. Hence why we've rarely seen final round showdowns
