Superb. Not your typical storm chasing vid. Nice lapses.

Shoot at 24fps with the shutter off or at night use a 2 frame SLS shutter and over 90% of lightning bolts will be fine. Been using this technique since CMOS cams came out and it works very well.

The stream is 4K if you bothered to check and it was shot, processed and finished in 4K. if you have a Retina MacBook pro you can watch it in just a little under 3K (and there are a lot of Retina MBP's out there). If you have any of the LG, Sony, Samsung, Seiki or TCL 4K TV's you can watch it in 4K by selecting "Original Size". Hardly emperors new clothes.Just because you may not have the gears it does not mean nobody does.

I shoot progressive and turn the shutter off for lightning. At night I use a 2 frame slow shutter. By maximising the cameras exposure period you minimise the chance of the lightning taking place during the read out period. The vast majority of the lightning bolts that I shoot with this method show no artefacts. It helps that the F5 has a very fast read out period.

The footage itself looks amazing, but the poor choice of displaying copyright notice in that way takes away considerably from the viewing experience. Make it more subtle or keep it towards the end of the video. :) Still love it though.

copyright in middle of screen was too distracting ruined the really cool footage in the vid. It kept drawing my eyes to it. Can you move it off center (off the main action slightly to the side) more next time. I do appreciate the work though cool stuff and understand why its there.

Beautiful, the only negative is that it's sped up too much. Have to use the slow motion setting! Seems to be a trend on the 4K videos.. let that shit roll!

Hi, I would be interested in using your video for a landing (under construction) page of a website I am building - its just and under construction site, please email me so we can discuss it...it would not be part of the final site, so 3-4 months maximum.

Hey everyone nobody out there has the equipment to view any of this in 4K. I doubt the stream is in 4K. It's the emperor's new clothes blowin in the wind.

With the amount of compression that youtube applies unfortunately it looks nothing like the original, I noticed tons of macroblocking unfortunately :( I wish I could download the real 4k version without all youtubes compression!
