It's like that when it's alone. When you charge all your defences. they stack like CRAZY

It's Psychological! Kidding.There isn't a crazy big boost to them. More like a half upgrade. For instance, Scatters get 5 more DPS. Doesn't seem like a lot, but it adds up (especially being splash damage).
