This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for! We definitely need a video on how you create different areas in clickup. Since AREAS is already a folder, we can’t make subfolders in clickup for Areas that have multiple sections in it such as my business or my actual full time job. I have some lists I JUST built out following another method by Andrew Moon and Layla from Process Driven including my tech stack list. I have other lists like this such as my SOPs but both these lists fall in ONE AREA, … Business! How can we make different areas if we can only create lists and Docs in the Areas folder?
@saassynergy11 ай бұрын
Firstly - thanks for watching and also the comment! This is exactly the reason why in our version of PARA that we use for our business, we utilize "Spaces" as the "PARA folders" (0. PROJECTS 1. AREAS, 2. Resources, 3. Archive). That way you can have "ClickUp Folders" in say, the "AREAS" space that are "containers" for many list types, documents, whiteboards etc. Also - there are some limitations on the ClickUp free version (such as with the automations and not having access to forms); hence in our business, we use the ClickUp paid version. This video is more so a simplified approach to PARA using the free ClickUp version. Would you find it beneficial to see our "PARA Spaces" version? Let me know and we'll be happy to create a video for you.

@@saassynergy Yes, please to the PARA SPACES version and thank you for your reply! I tend to work on organizing my systems late at night while the house is calm so it is needed asap! I feel I can’t complete any work until I organize my thoughts and tasks. Also, I assume the PARA Inbox would work the same on the space level but would it be a list? I’m no clickup rookie but can we even automate between spaces?
@saassynergy11 ай бұрын
@@DamonIrving OK great I'll bump that up to the top of the list! With kids around - hard to get any peace and quiet for deep/critical thinking time! Yes regarding the PARA Inbox - I have a separate/standalone space for this. The reason is, that I have the new "unsorted" items (via the form) drop into a list specific to this AND I also have a "Notes Inbox" list there to help with capturing links, pages, screenshots, bookmarks (which then can be allocated/distributed to resources or a project/area or archived one reviewed) in the PARA Inbox space. Yes you can certainly automate between spaces.

Thank you very much! It's a game changer (the PARA method) and this is one of many tools you can use with it.

Thanks for creating the video. Love seeing the PARA method inside ClickUp. Would you consider a KZbin content calendar an area or project? Or would each video be a "Project"? Right now I could see both as possible solutions. Thanks!
@saassynergy11 ай бұрын
Hi Paul! I have been watching your channel and also modelled some aspects of your videos in mine (using yours as inspiration!). Crazy how small the world and thanks for enjoying seeing the PARA method in action via ClickUp. Blown away! In terms of whether you would have a KZbin content calendar as a Project or Area - I'd say an area as this has no definitive end date (it's a cadence of activities). THEN you would create each video as a Project (linking/making a "relationship" of the Project to the calendar/list). This is important as of course Projects do have an end date plus I'd assume that you'll be wanting to outsource/invite guests to the Project (better with sharing permissions). Thanks for your comment and it'll be great if we could connect!

First time here! Love the automation part. Also, the detailed illustration of the step-by-step setup process. I wonder if different groups of statuses can be set up within a Space each to be used in other lists within that space/folder?

Is there any reason why you didn't put 6:23 into the same automation as creating the list? You don't need to have a separate automation for every action, you can combine actions together

Love this, will be adapting to it for sure. Can I ask what have you used to record this? The zoom and clicks are fantastic for some internal training I need to make and loom lacks those features

How do you organize your Areas? I find it hard to do without having subfolders available in ClickUp
@zacr858811 ай бұрын
Should this be combined with the GTD template on clickup or would that be redundant?
@saassynergy11 ай бұрын
You can most definitely blend/incorporate the GTD approach to managing tasks but this would fundamentally replace the organisational method of GTD.
@zacr858810 ай бұрын
How do you mean it would replace it. Would you just use tags for placement in gtd flowchart?
@saassynergy10 ай бұрын
@@zacr8588, it's the methodology of organizing your "stuff" that comes in that would replace the GTD method. In the GTD method, once you define the "What is it" stage, the next step is to ask, "Is it actionable", from here you would follow the PARA method (is the item part of a Project, a new Project, is it an Area, a new Area, is it a resource (attributed to Projects/Areas as references and it would be here that you could create tags to organize your resources); if none of the above, then Archive it.
@saassynergy10 ай бұрын
I hope that helps - otherwise, if you have not done so - read Tiago's book, The PARA Method

Is ClickUp more like Notion?
@saassynergy7 ай бұрын
ClickUp and Notion are both super handy tools, but they have some key differences. ClickUp is more focused on project management and to-do lists, while Notion is a bit more flexible and can be used for notes, wikis, and databases too.
